The First Look ✨

Wondering what you should wear to an upcoming bachelorette party weekend? This is an event you’ve been looking forward to forever, so let’s get you dressed. Picking out the perfect outfit(s) sets the tone for the whole weekend—but it doesn’t have to be complicated.

You might go with the traditional little black dress (LBD) if you’re a guest and a little white dress if you’re the bride-to-be. There are endless variations on this, of course. You’ll also want to consider the location where the bachelorette weekend will be held and what kind of events you’ll be doing over the weekend.

Here’s a guide to outfits that are appropriate for a bachelorette party so that you can celebrate to your heart’s content all weekend with your favorite people.

Location, Location, Location

What you pack for Vegas isn’t going to be the same as a girl’s spa and wine weekend in Napa, so, when choosing what to pack for a bachelorette party, you’ll need to consider the location and weather carefully. Some ideas for what to wear in some popular destinations are below.

Las Vegas Bachelorette

You can get away with wearing almost anything (or barely anything!) in Vegas. The summers tend to be hot, while the winter months are cooler and may not be warm enough to swim.

  • Day Swimsuit, romper, and/or sarong by the pool; and cutoffs or jeans, and matching T-shirts when exploring the city
  • Night Glitzy sequin dress and heels

Napa Wine Country Bachelorette

For wine country, pack wedges or flats that you’re comfortable walking through the vineyards in. The nighttime vibe tends to lean more casual and you can get away with jeans, a tank top, and a moto jacket.

  • Day Flowy floral dress, wedges, or flats
  • Night Jeans, tank top, moto jacket

Tropical Beach Bachelorette

A beachy bach doesn’t mean that you’ll spend all your time in a bathing suit. Pack some maxi or wrap dresses for going out to dinner and for nightlife and fun in the evenings.

New York City Bachelorette

A big city bach may involve a spa day, going to see a show, and eating and drinking late into the early morning hours. Bring your comfiest shoes for walking during the day and switch to heels or wedges at night.

  • Day Jumpsuit or a dress (with tights for the winter months,) comfortable walking shoes
  • Night Little black dress and heels

Spa Weekend Bachelorette

For a spa weekend, you’ll want to be comfy as you get pampered. You and the girls can still make a statement, though, with matching robes or sweatpants. You can also get the bride a special robe just for her. Don't forget a bathing suit.

What Is The Plan For The Party?

When it comes to bachelorette party outfits, what you’re actually going to do at the party will go a long way in determining the best dress code. For example, the outfit ideas that would make sense for a casual bachelorette brunch with the bridesmaids are going to be completely different from the ideal attire for a weekend bash where the main agenda is hitting the dance floor at the city’s hottest clubs.

Here are some idea around what to wear to a bach party based on the celebration’s activities:

Night out on the town

If you and the rest of the bridal party and bachelorette attendees are planning to hit the town, you’ll want to choose ensembles that feel fun, festive, and appropriate for upscale restaurants and clubs. Any kind of cocktail dresses (like a mini dress or a bodycon dress) would work great as a bachelorette party dress—or, if you prefer pants, a dressier jumpsuit is a great alternative. Pair your outfit with some strappy heels or wedges and some eye-catching jewelry, and you’re ready to go!

Lounging poolside

If you plan to spend the majority of the bachelorette getaway lounging by the pool, you’ll need to back all your pool essentials—a bathing suit (go with a one-piece or a bikini, whichever makes you feel most comfortable!), sandals, sunglasses, a hat, and at least one or two-cover-ups.

Outdoor adventures

If the bachelorette party is centered on outdoor adventures you’ll want to wear an outfit that allows you to comfortably participate in said adventures; for example, if you’re doing a day hike, you might wear workout leggings, a moisture-wicking shirt, hiking boots, and a hat to block the sun. If you’re going camping, you can keep it casual with sneakers, jeans, and a hoodie.

Wine tasting

Going to tour a few wineries for the bachelorette? The key is to choose an outfit that’s both cute and comfortable—like a maxi dress, denim jacket, and comfortable sandals.

Bachelorette Outfit Ideas

Need some outfit inspiration? Here are some ideas for the perfect outfit for your next bachelorette celebration—whether you're the guest of honor or there to celebrate the bride-to-be:

For the Bride

  1. A white dress. You’re the bride—and what says bride quite like a white dress? Have fun with the look and go for details that scream “bachelorette,” like sparkles or sequins. Pair it with some fun heels and statement jewelry.

  2. A white jumpsuit. Dresses aren’t your thing? No problem! You can still rock the bachelorette look with a white jumpsuit. Dress it up with heels and a pair of eye-catching earrings.

  3. A white romper. If your bachelorette is more casual, a white romper with flat sandals is a great outfit option.

  4. The perfect LBD. Some brides don’t want to wear white on their bachelorette—and if you fall into that category, you can’t go wrong with an LBD. A black cocktail dress is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing out there—and the perfect bachelorette attire.

  5. Bold colors... Your bachelorette is your opportunity to be the center of attention—and rocking a cocktail dress in a bold shade (like red, hot pink, or lime green) is a great way to do it.

  6. ...or bold prints. If you want to go bold—but not with color—opt for a dress with a bold print, like leopard.

  7. A sparkly jumpsuit. Your bachelorette is your time to shine—and a great way to shine is with a sparkly jumpsuit. Keep it classic with black—or if you really want to sparkle, go with a bold color, like gold or purple.

  8. A statement blazer. If you want to keep things more casual for your bachelorette, a statement blazer is a great way to dress up a pair of jeans and t-shirt—and make the whole outfit feel “special enough” for your big day.

  9. A printed one-piece. Spending your bachelorette at the beach or by the pool? A printed one-piece that reads “BRIDE” is the perfect way to let everyone know you’re celebrating!

  10. Coordinated outfits. If you want to create a cohesive look with your bachelorette babes, try coordinating your outfits! You can have everyone choose their favorite LBD, have everyone wear a similar cocktail dress in a different shade, or get matching t-shirts for your whole crew.

For The Guests

An LBD. An LBD is a great outfit choice for just about every occasion under the sun—including attending a bachelorette party.

  1. A midi dress. Midi dresses are super versatile; with the right shoes and accessories, they’re formal enough to wear out to a swanky club—but you can also dress them down for more casual daytime events. (You may even be able to recycle your midi dress for other wedding events, like the bridal shower.)
  2. A boho-inspired maxi dress. If you’re attending a more casual bachelorette party, like a wine tasting, a boho-inspired maxi dress is a great way to feel both pulled together and comfortable.
  3. Bachelorette party shirts. If the bride gets matching bachelorette party shirts, you’ll 100% need to wear it! Pair it with a pair of jeans and sneakers to keep it casual.
  4. Sparkly pants. A bachelorette party offers a great excuse to rock pieces that you might not wear in your day-to-day wardrobe—like a pair of sparkly pants. Pair it with a simple solid shirt on top and let the pants shine.
  5. A sequined top. Prefer to sparkle on top? Try pairing a sequined top with dark jeans.
  6. Leopard print. A leopard print dress is a fun way to incorporate print into your bachelorette party outfit—but it’s also something that’s versatile enough that you’ll likely have opportunities to wear it after the bach celebration.
  7. A bold mini dress. If you like mini dresses, a bachelorette party is a great time to wear them. Elevate your mini by choosing a dress in a bold color, like red.
  8. A swimsuit and cover-up. If the bachelorette party you’re attending has any beach or poolside activities, you’ll want to be sure to pack a bathing suit and cover-up.
  9. A statement jacket. A statement jacket is eye-catching, unique, and fun—making it a great piece to wear to a bachelorette party.

Choose a Matching Touch

Coordinating matching outfits with the other girls isn’t only unnecessary, it can be overkill. Instead, choose a color such as black or navy and have everyone wear what they are comfortable in that color. Then, choose a matching element such as headbands, sashes, or tiaras. You could also all get matching T-shirts to wear during the day. Just make sure that everyone is on board and comfortable with whatever you choose.

The only off-limits color is usually white—keep that reserved for the bride.

Additional Tips for Bachelorette Attire

  1. If you’re in charge of planning the weekend, make sure to send out a detailed itinerary with all the activities that you have planned ahead of time so that everyone knows what to wear.

  2. Send suggested attire (ie. jeans and sturdy shoes for horseback riding), but avoid telling anyone exactly what they need to wear.

  3. Pick out a matching element such as headbands, sashes, or glasses and include a note about when during the weekend everyone should plan on wearing these.

  4. If you do have a matching element, don’t pass out the article of clothing until you’re at the bachelorette. Otherwise, you run the risk of someone leaving the item at home.

  5. The bride doesn’t have to wear white—anything sparkly or glitzy will do.

  6. Bride doesn’t like sparkly or glitzy? Then don’t force her to wear it. Ultimately, you want the bride to be comfortable—so let her dictate what outfits make her feel her best.

  7. If you’re going out in the evening, make sure to tell everyone to bring a jacket.

  8. Even if everyone feels comfortable in heels, tell everyone to also pack flats; if someone’s feet are hurting after a night of dancing, you want them to have the option to switch into something more comfortable.

  9. Accessories are a great way to jazz up an outfit. Consider asking attendees to bring a selection of fun jewelry—then, before you head out, have everyone lay out what they brought and choose from the items available.

  10. Don’t forget to snap pictures of all your bachelorette outfits!
