Kam is the absolute best! We were looking for a photographer who had the ability to shoot many different types of photography (film, polaroids, digital) and Kam delivered. We hired Kam to shoot our civil ceremony in NYC at the courthouse, she served as our witness and over delivered on her photography efforts. She is beyond creative, so patience, and kind. Her work was absolutely beautiful and exceeded all expectations. If you’re looking for a photographer who is willing to go the extra mile, push the limits creatively and deliver fabulous results, she’s your girl.

We had the best experience for our wedding photos. From the moment I first spoke with Frank I knew this was going to be a smooth and easy process. Irene and Min were such a pleasure to work with the day of our wedding. Being 9 months pregnant, they were very mindful and compassionate to my needs. They captured the best moments throughout the night. The delivery of our photos was much quicker than I expected and as I looked through all the pictures I was able to relive that moment in time. Thank you again for capturing our magical day. I highly recommend NJ Wedding Studio!

When searching for a wedding photographer, we were looking for someone who was passionate about their work. Flo scheduled a video call with us immediately and was so excited to make her vision and our vision come to life on our wedding day. She sent out a very detailed survey to us so that she could get to know us and figure out the right vibe for our engagement shoot. We recently got out photos back and they are wonderful and suit us very well! We can't wait to have Flo's positive energy around on our wedding day.

Tati And Roman

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $4,500

We are a married couple of photographers. Within years of career, we discovered what’s really matters - we want to make people happy. Weddings have it all: new interesting people, touching stories, warm family relationships, tears. A lot of tears! Oh, don’t forget dances and sparklers! So, it’s fun! 🙂 Also, we love weddings because it’s the most challenging kind of photography in the field, it combines all the genres. It make you think, move and react quickly in constantly changing surrounding. We have no room for mistakes. So It’s never boring! 🙂

Awarded Best of Zola
We LOVED having Tati and Roman as part of our big day and we appreciated their support, thoughtfulness, and positive energy leading up to and through the day! They were incredibly professional and responsive throughout the booking and planning process, responding immediately to our initial inquiry and even following up with us to confirm that we were still interested before we had a chance to respond when they received an inquiry from another couple for our wedding date. Once we booked, the communication and coordination leading up to the day was seamless and supportive. Tati and Roman were incredible to work with. They brought an amazing energy and warmth to the day, which made taking pictures fun, even though both of us are a bit camera-shy! The photos, which we’ve been cherishing and sharing with family and friends, are absolutely spectacular! Not only do they capture the two of us in special ways, they capture details of the wedding and people's reactions and more that we missed in all the activity of the day. We couldn't be happier with them :)

Justin McCallum Photography

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $5,200

Hi! I’m Justin (he/him) and I’m here to affirm your love, make you feel like a fucking rockstar, and dance like a total fool. Oh, and take so many gorgeous photos of y’all. Obvs. My style blends both documentary photojournalism and fine art photography: coaching folks who are shy in front of the camera, then stepping back to capture authentic moments uninterrupted. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published by A Practical Wedding, The New York Times, GLAMOUR, People Magazine and many other fabulous outlets. I'm a stereotypical Capricorn that loves drag shows, campy horror films, every dog I meet, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Awarded Best of Zola
My wife and I love movies. A lot. So much so that we're on a first name basis with the staff of our local multiplex. When we got engaged we knew we wanted to have our pictures taken at the theater. It seemed like a crazy idea and Justin jumped at the chance. He came to the shoot filled with ideas and a contagious enthusiasm. Even before we got the amazing pictures we knew we wanted to hire him for our wedding day. The photos from the engagement shoot made us even more excited for our wedding, if only to see what Justin would do! On the day of the wedding he made us feel comfortable and at ease the whole time. He worked with our wedding planner and videographer to make sure everything went buttery smooth so we could be completely stress free. Our friends and family loved him too! He managed to make what by all accounts should have been an uncomfortable few hours and turn it into a genuinely fun experience for everyone involved. The wedding party had a blast goofing around and posing together. In addition to his great eye for staging Justin has a way of capturing moments of beauty you didn't even know were there. Blink-and-you-miss-them moments like the belly laugh after a joke, the joy of dancing with old friends, and the most meaningful of shared glances. He managed to bottle the full range of emotions of our day and lay them out in stunning detail so we can relive it over and over again. Not only is Justin McCallum a phenomenal photographer, he's also a passionate lovely person who is a joy to be around as well as work with.

Emma Melin Studios

5.0

New York, NY
  • Editorial style
  • Starts at $5,250

Hey there, I'm Emma! I am an outgoing and free-spirited photographer living in Manhattan (but born & raised in the Midwest! My heart longs for creating art and telling remarkable stories. I love a good trip to the farmers market, a wine night with my friends, and spending time with my loved ones.

Awarded Best of Zola
The day after our wedding, when my husband and I were still on cloud nine from a weekend filled with family, friends, and love, we took a moment to recall our favorite moments and parts of our wedding, from the speeches to special moments with siblings to the food. We both put on our list of favorite things as "Emma." She was that important to not only the day, but all the prep leading up to it, and we genuinely consider her a friend now. The words I would use to describe Emma are warm, thoughtful, passionate, professional, and genuine. It's a whirlwind choosing vendors and you're afraid you're just another couple and wedding to them and that they've seen it all and perhaps will tire of any requests or things that feel cliche or special to you....but Emma so clearly loves her job and loves the part she plays in making your day special. Emma was always so responsive by text or email and was so helpful when figuring out logistics and timing and brainstorming locations for engagement or family photos. She brought amazing vibes to the actual day and never made me feel rushed or stressed yet naturally kept us on time. And Emma manages to give you sneak peeks and previews so quickly after your wedding when most don't see those photos for months later. And aside from all those things that make working with her the best, she is such an incredible talent. I still get comments from my friends that our engagement photos were the best they've ever seen and inspired some of them to reconsider why they didn't do engagement photos because her vision was so natural. And when we looked through our photos we were laughing, crying, and in awe because she managed to capture so many special moments and the core traits of every single one of our wedding guests. She caught the best friend who cries at her first sight the bride before the ceremony, she snapped the father of the groom cooling off outside but still busting moves off the dance floor, and she captured our pure happiness and love on the best day of our lives yet. This is such a long review, but I need to shout from the mountain tops that Emma is the BEST and you would be so lucky to snag her as your photographer!

Rebeca and Andrew are the best wedding photographers. After one phone call with Rebeca I knew I wouldn't regret hiring them for our wedding photography. Awarded Best of Zola
We hired Amy to document our 75-guest wedding in Brooklyn. From the first emails to final delivery of the photos, working with her was a total pleasure. We talked with Amy before we hired her, and during that exploratory conversation she seemed to understand our wishes and concerns and gave us confidence we were all on the same page. We could tell she’s experienced—in addition to talented, so evident on her website and in social media posts—and we liked that her photos aren’t overly stylized, instead privileging the people and the moments in front of her. Amy helped us map and pace the photography for our wedding day, relieving us of potential stress. Her camera-side manner while she worked was excellent, both cheerful and assured, including suggesting movements or adjustments that improved the shots. She made us first-time models more comfortable. During the ceremony and dinner, she worked efficiently and without intruding on our, or our guests’, experiences. A number of weeks later, she sent us a polished package of images that we’ll treasure as reminders of our favorite weekend together. Thank you, Amy! --Hicks & Molly

Where to start with Shelby! From the moment my fiance and I first met with Shelby, we knew she was our photographer. Shelby made us feel so comfortable from our first convo and that completely transferred to when we were front and center. We felt like we had one of our best friends behind the camera and our photos show that! The day was full of joy and Shelby captured it with seeming ease. Another plus, Shelby is not afraid to take charge of the room when things need to get done but still is kind and always made us feel totally on track!! Loved our day and loved our decision to use Shelby!

About wedding photographers in New York, NY

How much does a wedding photographer typically cost in New York, NY?

A New York, NY wedding photographer ranges from $400 to $20,000 and averages at $3,000. The cost reflects the number of hours included, if there is a second photographer, any prints or albums, and, most importantly, the experience of the photographer. But every snapshot they take is a priceless memory of your big day — way better than your bestie's blurry smartphone pics, right?

Do most photographers include a second photographer?

94% of photographers in New York, NY offer a second photographer, although it typically depends on the package you book! Second photographers are helpful because one person can’t be everywhere at once, and the second photographer ensures all the details are covered.

Which are the most popular photographers in New York, NY?

Some of the most popular photographers in this area include The Pros Weddings, SweetEmms Photography and Ashley Cynthia Photography.

What else should I keep in mind when booking a wedding photographer?

Are you interested in an engagement shoot as a test run? Drone photography? Wedding albums? All helpful things to ask about when you’re considering which wedding photographer to book!

What questions should I ask a wedding photographer in NYC?

It can be hard to know exactly what you should be looking for when you’re first exploring wedding photographers. You might want to ask questions like, "How do you capture the essence of 'us'?" or "How do you balance capturing our must have shot list without missing out on unexpected candid moments?" Don't forget the nitty-gritty, either. Inquire about their portfolio, if they've shot at your venue before, and how they navigate New York City’s unpredictable elements (because who hasn't seen a taxi photobomb?). Check out our full list of questions to ask your wedding photographer for even more info.

How long does it take to receive wedding photos in NYC?

Picture this: you've said your vows, had the time of your life at the reception, and now you're back from your honeymoon, eager to relive it all through your photos. But you might need to wait a minute, because good things take time! Most NYC wedding photographers will ask for a 4 to 8-week grace period to finalize your photos. They're carefully sifting through the raw emotions and dance-floor shenanigans to deliver a gallery that's as epic as your love story. We know how eager you are to relive those moments, but your stunning snaps will be worth the wait.

How many images are typically included in a wedding photo package?

Wedding photo packages in NYC are as varied as the city itself, but on average, you might see anything from 300 to 700 finished photos. But hey, it’s not just about quantity, it’s the heart-stopping, tear-jerking quality that counts. Make sure to chat with your photographer about what's important to you – maybe it's those candid laughs during the toast or that magical first dance. So, whether you’re aiming for a minimalist album or an epic visual novella of your day, rest assured you'll have enough photos to keep your memories fresh and your heart full!

Are engagement sessions typically included in wedding photography packages in New York City?

Looking for a photographer to capture the excitement of your engagement, too? Look no further. Many New York wedding photographers bundle engagement photo sessionsinto your wedding package, or will add them on at a reduced rate. It's like a romantic pre-game show where you and your SO can get over some of the camera-shyness.
