5.0

New York, NY

Based in New York City, The Hook Club is one of the tri-state area's most exciting and unique wedding bands. Owned and operated by a tight-knit community of musicians, they are known for their attention to every musical detail and the professionalism they bring to every event. Their unconventional group has mastered the art of creating a great dance party that keeps guests on the dance floor all night and then humming the songs the next day!

Awarded Best of Zola
DO NOT HESITATE to book The Hook Club! Words cannot express how incredible their performance was... you had to be there. We had many musicians in the crowd who were blown away with the talent on the stage. Not only did they display excellent musicianship, but their energy was unparalleled. They got the crowd on their feet over and over again, myself and my blisters included. The main singers came out into the dance floor during the bangers, which our guests loved. Each singer had a repertoire that perfectly suited their talents, and we loved how they exploited that. It was really fun to see them indulging in off-the-charts vocalizing. (And also rapping that had me shook!) We truly felt like they were having as great a time as we were. Jesse served as an excellent MC, introducing our toasts in a humorous and timely manner. Our communication was great, including on the spot decisions (we asked for an extra 15 minute break during dinner, because when they were playing, no one could stop dancing!). Jesse was calm, professional, and light-hearted. I was very impressed by how he carried himself. The planning process we used was thorough and simple, including only two zoom meetings. The Hook Club has tons of songs to choose from, and can probably learn anything you throw their way. Another huge bonus of The Hook Club is that they have so many members, so they can cobble a group together that best suits your desires. Again, I cannot recommend this group highly enough. I feel like they truly made the night, and we are indebted to them! Many guests said it was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding! Hiring this group might have been our best investment of the night. Props and endless thanks to everyone who tried so hard for us.

A 16-year veteran of the NYC club scene. I collaborate closely with couples to create their unique musical experiences for themselves and their guests by delivering a Sophisticated Savoire-Faire of seamlessly blended hits from past decades to what's currently in vogue; citing T-40 Dance, House, IndiePop/Rock, Nu-Disko, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Crossover Reggae and Crossover Latin as some of my favorites.

Hey brother Marcus, From the first time we read about you in your reviews and website, we knew you were “The One.” When we had the first zoom, it was so difficult to get the words out because I knew you would allow us to achieve greatness on the dance floor. You are truly special and the world is getting better each time you get in touch with the next couple, party and venue. I told Jenn that I was so happy not because we chose you but that You chose us. I wish everyone had a chance to work with someone of your skill level, generosity, dedication, and love 3. Thank you thank you and thank you. Dennis and Jenn

Lucas knows his stuff but also makes a point to know your stuff just as well. He sees the big picture of your wedding day and is beyond generous with his knowledge. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to schedule time with him leading up to the wedding. We had several video calls and he was always calm and confident as we dished him all the stress we could manage. He knew just what to say to ease our tensions with any part of the process and was helpful on all fronts, not just the music. Imagine a young Rick Rubin who’s going to make your day happen through fierce professionalism and calming holistic approach. Day of, Lucas was there early and making sure all the gear was working and problem solving on the scene to make the experience even better than we had talked about. He was able to not only have the music playing through the two large speakers we had planned for outside, but also got it seemlessly hooked up to the speakers throughout the interior space. This was key, because we had to last minute move the whole wedding inside due to rain. It was priceless to see see Lucas problem solving all of that with plenty of time to spare because I had so many other things to worry about with the shifting rain plans. I knew I didn’t have to worry about that whole part of it though, and the quality of the sound throughout the day really smoothed over all of the last minute adjustments and helped make everything feel like it was all part of the plan. It was a perfect day beyond my wildest expectations, and Lucas Walters was a huge part of that.

This band is LEGIT. We booked them for our wedding last month and they totally delivered! We ended up doing a 9-piece ensemble, with smaller groupings for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Loren and the crew made it so easy for us, chatting about our style and what we wanted to hear - mostly funk and 80s. They even learned a few songs for us to truly customize our day. As music nerds ourselves, my husband and I couldn’t just trust our wedding to anyone - we both HIGHLY recommend booking them for your wedding!

I loved Chantal Music! Carla was a delight to work with throughout the entire process. She was responsive, fun, engaging, and listened closely to what we wanted. It’s been almost a month since my wedding and all anyone can talk about (still!!!) is this band! They were fantastic, high energy, talented beyond measure and knew how to play to their audience. I’m so happy I found them. They were reasonable price compared to other bands we looked at also. Our manager, Hannah, was fantastic with coordination and hearing me out on all of my song requests. 12/10 would definitely contract with again!

The Jon Bates Band

5.0

New York, NY
  • Band or Ensemble

THE JON BATES BAND is an amazing dance-oriented “party band” that always gets folks dancing, feeling good and celebrating the occasion! THE JON BATES BAND is a "destination event band". They have literally performed all over the globe, providing an arsenal of abundantly talented musicians and vocalists, who perform an extensive repertoire of popular music in all styles and genres. They have the professionalism and touring experience required to offer clients the highest quality entertainment options on every level, and they have shared stages with some of the most legendary performers on the planet! - find more info at www.JonBatesBand.com

We saw the Jon Bates Band perform at our friends' wedding in Vermont a number of years ago. My now-husband and I knew (before we were even engaged!) that we wanted these guys to play our wedding, should we get to that point together. Fortunately, they travel all over and were happy to come to Delaware for our 10/5/2019 wedding. Communication was smooth throughout the entire process, and they were completely open to working with us on our song list and catering to what we really love most. Their rendition of our first dance song was spot-on to what we hoped it would be. They played a consistently strong set all night and had everyone - and I mean everyone! - up and dancing. I can honestly say that it could not have gone better, nor could we have enjoyed it more. I highly recommend this group of talented musicians.

Whether you want a string quartet to serenade your ceremony, a 12-piece band, or a DJ to drop beats until dawn, there's a package for every style and budget in New York City. The music package will vary depending on the group, number of performers, hours played, and more, so make sure to review all of the details in advance to ensure the soundtrack to your wedding plays without a hitch.

How do we coordinate our wedding timeline with the band or DJ in New York City?

Communication is key. Your band or DJ should be in sync with your wedding day schedule, hitting the right notes at the right moments. Now, that’s a savvy question! In a city that never sleeps, some venues do still have bedtime rules. Fear not, because your wedding planner or venue contacts will be clued in on any noise ordinances.
