Wilmington Airport

For guests who are flying for the wedding, please fly into the Wilmington Airport (ILM). This will be the closest airport for the commute to Southport, which is approx. 45 minutes away. In Southport you can park and leave your car for the weekend at the Deep Port Marina. Then you will take the Ferry to Bald Head Island for the ceremony/reception. It is VERY important that you schedule your ferry ride to and from the island ahead of time!! Instructions on how to do this can be found below in the section labeled "Ferry".

Staying on the Island

AS OF 2/15/2023 BALD HEAD ISLAND INN IS COMPLETELY BOOKED! If you are planning on staying on the island for the weekend, please take the time to book ahead, as rentals will go quickly! You can find rentals through Airbnb or Vrbo. Most rentals will include golf carts or bicycles that you may use to travel around the island. If you rent a house, you can also schedule a Tram to take you directly to your rental from the Ferry Port the day of your scheduled visit.

Parking at Deep Point Marina

Parking is available at Deep Point Marina for a daily fee. A ticket is issued from an electronic parking device upon entering the parking lot. You will need to present this ticket to the parking lot attendant to pay upon exiting the lot, then come around and pick up your luggage at the lower level.

The Ferry

The ferries depart the mainland from Deep Point Marina which is located in Southport, North Carolina (1301 Ferry Road) just before the State-operated Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry landing. It takes 20 minutes to get to Bald Head Island on the ferry. The ferry departing on the mainland on the half-hour and the island on the hour beginning at 7:00 a.m. You may visit the link below to schedule a ferry ride to and from the Island. You may also call 910-457-5003 (for departing Deep Point) or 910-457-5006 (for departing Bald Head Island) for rates, general information, and current schedule. *~*Please don't forget to tip your captain! *~*

Bald Head Island Tram System

Transportation between the island ferry terminal and your home by tram is included with a general passenger ferry ticket. It is highly recommended that you make reservations in advance because seating is LIMITED. Tram reservations do not guarantee a seat on the ferry, so you should arrive at least 40 minutes in advance. Internet reservations coming to the island for drop off must be made at least one hour in advance and three hours in advance for pickup when departing the island. When departing the Island, please have your luggage out 45 minutes prior to ferry departure time. The tram will arrive 25-45 minutes before your scheduled ferry departure. Renting a Golf Cart

Many rental properties on Bald Head Island include the use of the owner’s golf cart(s). Daily golf cart rental is available through Cary Cart Company which has a rental location near the ferry landing. For more information you can click on the link or call 910-457-7333. Gas-powered golf carts are prohibited on Village streets. All-terrain vehicles (ATVs), gators, side-by-sides, and similar light-work or recreational vehicles are prohibited on Village streets (exceptions are in place for emergency vehicles, BHI Conservancy and Bald Head Club).
