Our Story So Far

How It Began

Meeting in middle school, freshman year, on the first day of school, fate had placed them together in two classes. As the year went on they grew to know one another, and once word got out of their feelings for each other, it would spread like fire. It took the entire school for the oblivious boy to take her hand. Sadly things weren’t perfect and the hearts turned into storm clouds, only after two months. (It was his fault). 7th grade she vanished, gone for another school, but not forgotten. Love lost, they moved on…until 8th grade. A new year, a new grade, they were totally different people, going through changes. Both shy and awkward, they loved to be around one another, but couldn’t muster much to say. They would go out of their way and make up excuses to see one another. Whether it be tangled headphones she couldn’t undo, untied shoes he would rush to tie, or him offering to walk to class with her. Anything for a reason for them to approach one another. Eventually he would work up the courage to ask her on a date to the carnival. She happily said yes, and funny enough almost everyone from school was there that day. It was an amazing night full of games and rides. Her smile shined brighter than any star that night, and his heart soared in reaction. Until something strange occurred. People were forming into a crowd as commotions began to rise. Lights turned off, rides shut down, and screams could be heard as the crowd dispersed. Helicopters were overhead, sirens and lights filled the streets. There was coughing heard as others stated “they’re throwing gas!” They locked hands as she became overwhelmed with fear. She turned to him with eyes full, as if they were shouting “I need you.” While the world around them fell into disarray, he sprang into action. Taking her out of the carnival and to her mother’s car, but she wasn’t there. Zaria coughed and was frazzled as Darrion seemed unaffected, she even questioned it. He calmed her and told her to call her mother while they waited at the car. She came as quick as she was called, and as she pleaded for him to join them he hugged her and declined. Stating “I have to find and help my brother” and rushing back into the stampeding crowd. That was the last they saw one another, but they texted the rest of the night. That night he was her knight in shining armor, and she was his princess! From then on they talked almost everyday. As the year went on he wanted to ask her out, but didn’t have the courage. Even when it was the last day of school, she got away, (it was his fault again). Little did they know from then on this would grow into something much more…
