"A small group of women organized the East Nashville Civic Club on May 30, 1909. The club grew to become effective advocates of public good - especially in philanthropy, the needs of children, and the rights of women.

Through the years, larger demands were met with concerted service. The club’s efforts brought several libraries into existence, better health laws were enacted, and the “City Beautiful” campaign was begun. The club was chartered as The Woman’s Club of Nashville in 1931 by the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs.

We strive to emulate that small group of women with high ideals as we go forward to meet the needs of this new and ever-changing world. We continue the legacy."
