We met in one of our favorite places in the world...Anchorage, Alaska. Zach was already stationed in Alaska for a year by the time I arrived at the unit. When we met, Zach was leaving the Army in a couple months and he was moving to the Lower 48. So since he was leaving, and I was new...we did not interact to much. Then, on his birthday we worked together all day, and at the end of the day he invited me to hang out with his friends. I had an amazing time meeting his friends, and celebrating his birthday with him. And, crazy enough that night we finally realized that we may have found who both of us was looking for all along. From that faithful day three years ago, we have been inseparable ever since.
Two years later of falling in love, and a year and a half of dating...we started talking more and more about marriage.. May 20, 2023 I had planned a full pack schedule for my birthday weekend. The day before my birthday, we had plans to go on a hike (we absolutely love hiking) at one of our favorite trails. We hiked until we were almost at the top, but I had on Chacos, and there was still snow, so I suggested we stay there and hang out, and then head out. We were hanging out, and playing with Ginger, and all of the sudden Zach said "Hey, do you see thing on that mountain over there, I've never seen that before"? I turned around and stared at this mountain and questioned Zach on what he seen and he wouldn't answer. So I turned around, and there goes Zach on one knee with tears in his eyes (not falling yet), of him asking me to marry him. I was expecting it to happen soon...within the year; but I was so shocked because I never found a ring, or overheard him talking about it, or got a hint that this was gonna be our time. It was so funny, because we were just so elated that we forgot about Ginger; and she was just aimlessly running and chasing birds across the mountain. One of the best days we have ever had a family of three. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
