There are many chain hotels, air bnbs, and boutique hotels near Mercury Hall. If you're looking for a boutique experience, some hotels on South Congress like the Austin Motel and the South Congress Hotel have the Austin charm you're looking for.

For other bigger hotel options, there's a Springhill Suites, Omni, Hampton Inn, Fairfield, etc. Google search hotels near Mercury Hall for reference. 

As for traveling around town, Austin is a pretty spread out city. Ubers are great to get you around, but renting a car might be ideal to explore what different parts of the city have to offer. 
As for the venue, there is a good amount of parking but carpooling and ridesharing are great options so you can enjoy some beverages with us :)
