There’s a theory that it takes three meetings for someone to truly matter in your life—the first is forgettable, the second sparks interest but isn’t the right time, and the third is when everything changes. Our story is proof of that. The first time I met Zach was at a party at his house after high school. Funny enough, I had no idea who he was or that he even lived there. Did we talk that night? Maybe. Maybe not. But that was our first time crossing paths. Years later, my cousin Taylor’s friend Brittney—who quickly became family—invited me last minute to a country concert with her family. And guess who was there? Zach. Our second time in the same place at the same time. We hit it off instantly and even planned to go on a date, but life had other plans, and the timing wasn’t right. Still, Zach later told Brittney, “I’m going to marry that girl.” Fast forward a whole year. Brittney invited me to watch a Dodgers game at Bleachers, mentioning that Zach and his friends would be there. I figured, why not?—I was actually excited to see him again after all that time.
