He was a boy who listened to rock. She was a girl who did not. He wanted her while she would not tell that secretly she did as well. But all of her friends stuck up their noses because they had a problem with his baggy clothes. Ricardo was 17 years old, Yvette was 16 years old when they met in the summer of 2005, unknowingly discovering an eternal connection. Sadly, like all young love, they went their way after graduation to figure out life. They did not know any better, had no clue about life. But he was what she wanted, she was what he needed, and they would eventually land somewhere in between. Ricardo had recently graduated college, Yvette was working a nine to five job when they reunited in 2015. On a summer evening, over snow cones and a couple of drinks, they met to see what they were like ten years later. Sure they had changed, but deep-down they had the same strong feelings. Ricardo had never felt so alive. He spent the days working, spent the nights waiting for a time when he would see Yvette again. Now that we know a little bit better we knew we could have a wonderful life. In 2020, Ricardo and Yvette went for a walk where he got down on one knee. And he said, “I would like to be your forever, so will you be my wife?” Ricardo and Yvette had no clue that connection in the summer of 2005 was the beginning of a unique love story this town has ever seen. Now that we are finally here, it feels like it was such a long wait. But the truth is that we were who we needed all along.
