One of Julia's favorite places in St. Louis. City Museum is a hundred-year-old warehouse in downtown St. Louis in which artists have repurposed the pieces of old cities to build miles of tunnels, slides, climbers, bridges, and castles. There are secret passages and grand galleries. Playgrounds and ball pits. A circus and a train. A rooftop school bus, Ferris wheel, and even a bar for adults.
Yash's favorite place in St. Louis. Grant's Farm is the 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family, home to more than 900 animals representing more than 100 species from six continents. See the Budweiser Clydesdales, feed a variety of animals including baby goats, and enjoy a free beer.
Located in the heart of St. Louis, Forest Park encompasses nearly 1,400 acres of land. It is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, nearly a third larger than New York City's Central Park. The St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Science Center and Planetarium, History Museum, Zoo (ranked 6th best in the world and 2nd in the US), Jewel Box, and Muny Theater are a few of the many attractions located here. All are free to visit with the exception of special exhibits. Additionally, there are 170 acres of Nature Reserve holds and old-growth forest habitat.
The Kounter Kulture menu is a rotating list of Asian dishes representing China, Korea, Thailand, Japan, and Vietnam. The team at Kounter Kulture believes in sourcing proteins and vegetables from local farms for culinary and environmental reasons so you can expect a sustainable, seasonal menu on each visit.
Lulu's is a sustainable neighborhood café in the South Grand Dining District in South City, Saint Louis. Their mission is to offer a sustainable dining option that is incredibly delicious and doesn't take itself too seriously. We're big fans of the Volcano Tots!
Charlie Gitto's has been a landmark in St. Louis' Italian neighborhood, The Hill, for more than 38 years. It is the birthplace of one of St. Louis' signature dishes, toasted ravioli, when in 1947 a chef at Angelo’s (the name of the restaurant at that time) accidentally dropped a ravioli in hot oil instead of water.
This is where Julia's family gets their chocolate Easter bunnies! Crown Candy Kitchen was opened in 1913 by Harry Karandzieff and his best friend Pete Jugaloff. They brought their confectionary skills from Greece, along with a dream of providing a friendly family environment to enjoy their delicious creations. Besides the soda fountain and candy, Crown Candy Kitchen serves hearty meals like thick stacked sandwiches, chili, and giant gourmet franks.
The team at The Fountain creates their own handcrafted ice cream sauces, chocolates, and deliciously unique, freshly made-from-scratch foods. Whether your visit is for lunch or dinner, business or romance, be sure to try one of the signature Ice Cream Martinis, Retro Cocktails or Champagne Floats.
The vision for Kitchen House Coffee is centered around the idea of finding a country respite in the city - a repurposed, urban space focused on sustainable product. Their food offerings are made in house from scratch, and incorporate herbs, greens, eggs, honey & vegetables from their farm when possible. They roast their own specialty coffee beans and other coffee, tea & retail items come from nearby St. Louis businesses. And did we mention they have chickens out back?
Many may think that it is just a ride to the top of a beautifully built arch to view the city, but there is so much more. You can easily spend a few hours running through the green space, walking through the interactive museum to learn more about its history and engineering, riding on a riverboat cruise, and riding to the top of the arch.
While we can't fully endorse it, Imo's pizza is undeniably St. Louis and weirdly addictive. Their famous foundation is thin, crispy and crunchy. Then, it's covered edge-to-edge with toppings and layered in their Provel® cheese (cheddar, Swiss, and Provolone combined into one gooey, creamy, deliciously cheesy experience). We recommend getting the house salad to go with your pizza. Extra credit if you get the toasted raviolis!
