Yago & Coral's Love Story
Yago and Coral matched on Tinder (Dating App) in May 2020. Yago's profile caught Coral's attention when she read "Brazilian, Pro Surfer" and the distance away from Coral's house showed he was practically her neighbor. After weeks of messaging each other, they decided to meet on July 13th, 2020 to walk the Huntington Beach Pier. Coral thought she was texting Yago, but later found out he was having his friends translate because he did not speak English. They tried to communicate with each other through Google Translate with English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. The date turned into a language lesson while walking around Huntington Beach. When the date came to an end, Yago walked her home and went to kiss her on both cheeks (Brazilian Goodbye Custom). Coral thought he was going in for a full kiss, so she completed it. They hung out every day and by the end of the week they decided they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Now dating someone that doesn't speak the same language as you can be hard, but they made the most of it. They continued to use Google Translate and became friends with Brazilians that spoke English and Portuguese. These friends became their Brazilian Family and they helped translate A LOT! Coral and Yago's dates turned into Brazilian Family Hangouts and Adventures. They had family beach days, surf contests, temaki dinners, alley parties (Beco), one day adventures, Hawaii trips, snow trips, birthday parties, nights out at The Bungalow, etc. Yago also joined Coral’s adventures by attending a beauty pageant, playing on a kickball league, learning karaoke, going to plays, musicals, concerts, clubs, and trips to Las Vegas and Tahoe with Coral’s family. These adventures together were only the beginning. From there they continued to do everything together and learned each other's cultures and languages. In April 2022, they decided that they were going to move in together and take the relationship to the next level. They have since learned how to handle each other's messes and lifestyles. Then on their two year anniversary (July 13th, 2022), Yago and Coral walked the pier. Yago was texting on his phone and not enjoying the moment which annoyed Coral, but she did nothing about it. Coral also noticed that Yago was recording horizontally, which wasn't like him. When they got to the end of the pier Yago asked a stranger to take a "picture" of them, which turned out to be a video. He then asked Coral if she would marry him. Coral said "Yes!" It turns out the reason Yago was texting all the way up the pier was so a drone could be recording this magical moment for us. (See Video Above) Finally fast forward to November 22nd, 2022, Yago and Coral decided to go to the Laguna Hills Courthouse to get married in front of their families. SURPRISE! Now even though they are already married, they want a day to celebrate with all their loved ones near their 3 year anniversary on July 14th, 2023. Yago and Coral are proof that you don't need to speak the same language to be in love and that everyone smiles in the same language.
