We will begin the evening with the Kabbalat Panim, or greeting of the guests, with hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail hour. This is a chance to greet and sing with the bride and mingle with the guests. Meanwhile, the groom will be seated in a separate room for the Chatan's Tisch (groom's table). There will be food, lots of singing and words of Torah, along with the signing of the Ketubah and Tenaim (marriage contract and writ of terms). Near the end of the hour, the groom is danced to the bride, alongside family and friends, for the Bedeken ceremony (veiling), where they will greet each other and receive blessings. Afterwards, everyone will go outside for the Chuppah ceremony. The Chuppah, a canopy that is open on all four sides, symbolically represents the home that Yael and Matt will work to build together, one founded upon the value of Hachnasat Orchim (hospitality). Yael and Matt will walk down the aisle along with their families, and then proceed with the marriage ceremony, where many more beautiful traditions will take place and be explained. Lastly, we will have a joyous dinner reception and lots of opportunities for dancing with the happy couple, accompanied by our live band and singer! We can't wait!
Bet Am Shalom is a physically accessible venue. There will be vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options available.
The dress code is formal attire. We recommend bringing along comfortable shoes for lots of high-energy dancing!
