Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the safety of our loved ones, we have decided to postpone our formal wedding reception to April 9, 2022. We can't wait to celebrate with you then! See you on the dance floor! Because we are so excited to marry each other, we plan to wed with a private ceremony on our original date, April 10, 2021. We hope to share photos of our small ceremony here, so check back soon. Love, Katie & Seth
It was early 2017, and Katie was in the market for a new job. Her law school friend, Marc, worked at a local firm that happened to be hiring, and he encouraged Katie to apply. Katie eventually went in for an interview, and the firm made her a job offer. At this point, you may be thinking, "We want to know your love story, not your career story!" Well, on her way out of the interview, Seth, who worked at the law firm with Marc, happened to hold the elevator door for her. Despite graduating in the same (small) law school class and having (many) mutual friends, Katie and Seth had not met until that moment. Katie recalls her friends talking about someone named Seth, and wondering to herself, "am I supposed to know who that is?" In the elevator, Seth, in the smoothest move of his entire life, said, "let me get your phone number, so that I can tell you about the firm." Katie obliged and later that day a few text messages were exchanged. Later that week, Marc suggested that he, Katie, and Seth get together to discuss whether Katie would enjoy working at their firm. Katie showed up to their get together and was surprised and disappointed to find that Seth was not there. She wondered whether the cute elevator guy would be showing up at all. After finishing up at a work event, Seth finally arrived. Marc left soon after, and Katie and Seth ended up talking for hours. At the end of the evening, Seth, ever the gentleman, offered Katie a ride home. Katie was hesitant at first, but it was dark and chilly, so she accepted. Seth then added a caveat, "I just want to warn you...there's a LOT of Tim Horton's wrappers in my car." Katie ultimately declined the job, meaning Seth could ask her on a real date because they would not be co-workers. And although she had to rest her feet on the dashboard of his car on that ride home due to the sheer volume of Tim Horton's wrappers on the floor, Katie agreed to see Seth again, and they've been together ever since.
On January 1, 2020, after having dinner with Katie's family, Katie and Seth returned home to go about their normal weeknight routine. Because they are competitive nerds, their normal weeknight routine includes watching Jeopardy and trying to out guess each other. After Jeopardy ended, Seth went to the kitchen. Seth came back from the kitchen, got on one knee, and asked Katie to marry him. Dottie, Ziggy, and Ludo seemed to approve of him, so Katie said yes.
