We met during our freshman year of undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018. We had mutual friends who were roommates, so we were always in their room together hanging out. One day, David asked Ella if she wanted to get lunch with him (alone!), and the rest is history!

David planned a hike for the two of them during Ella's spring break. They hiked at Gibraltar Rock State Natural Area (about 45 min. from Madison), which is one of their favorite hikes. David picked up their favorite brussel sprouts pizza from Luigi's for a picnic (like one of their favorite dates from a few years ago!) and brought a few gifts. First, he showed Ella a picture of Kokomo (the Wolles' former dog), because the first text he ever sent her was a reply to a picture of her with Kokomo! Second, he gave her a box of Peet's coffee, because their first date was at the Peet's coffee in Memorial Union at UW-Madison. Third, he pulled out a bottle of champagne and gummy worms, which were the things they snuck into the movie theater on their first Valentine's Day together (don’t tell AMC!). Fourth, David pulled out a jar of Maraschino cherries and a spoon, because the first trip they took together was to Minneapolis, where they went to the sculpture garden at the art museum with the giant cherry on a spoon. Finally, David asked Ella to close her eyes, and he pulled out the ring and popped the question!
