Although graduating classes have roughly 550 people, we seemed to pass each other for two years. That was until a passion for serving those in need brought us together. Through a mission trip, Bryce found himself interviewing Kiley. The interview for Bryce was only about a minute long as he was coming back from a Broadway singing group practice, but that was all he needed to ensure that Kiley secured a spot on the trip. Kiley’s practically perfect smile caught Bryce’s attention, and for a future dentist, it wasn’t hard to understand why. Through 21st birthdays, attending masses together, and our friends telling us that the other person was interested, we could both tell there was something more there than just our friendship. Although Bryce’s "Lady and the Tramp" attempt with spaghetti and meatballs on the first date didn’t quite turn out like the movie, the first date was a success. With long distance on the horizon, Kiley finishing her senior year and Bryce leaving school a year early to attend dental school, we knew this wasn’t just an end of year fling. Three years later, walking along Wetmore Landing beach in Marquette, MI, on a beautiful Good Friday morning, the sun shining across Lake Superior, it was too pretty not to stop and take a picture. With Kiley’s back turned to him, and with his cousin crawling across the forest floor attempting to capture a few timeless photos, Bryce got down on one knee as Kiley insisted, “I want to take a picture of you with the water!” He replied, “Okay, take a picture of me.” Surprises are on the list of Kiley’s favorite things, and this surprise was one Bryce had more fun planning and executing than any that happened over the last 4 years together. Her smile and tears made sure he felt confident for the answer to his final question; a resounding yes! Since then, the celebrating hasn’t stopped. Being surrounded by amazing family and friends who have shared in our love together, we both can say that we’ve never been happier.
