We first met the weekend we both moved into our first college houses in Stevens Point. Though we both had gone to the same university all four years, it wasn't until our Junior year that we actually laid eyes on each other. Later to find out that we had mutual friends in common the whole time, in fact my childhood friend, Jaime (or to Eric known as James), was really good friends with Eric since Freshman year, and she is the reason we met! (Thanks Jae <3) I couldn't take my eyes off Eric the whole night and kept thinking I need to get to know him. We started dating shortly after and 6 years later we said "I do" and now a year later we get to do it all over again, "We do, take two" !
It started out as any ordinary day, excited to go out for our very first hike of the year! It was such a beautiful spring day and I truly had no idea what was to come next. We had just crossed a stream by walking across a fallen log when I had asked Eric to take a picture with me, as my mom had asked earlier for the two of us to take pictures together since we usually always forget. After taking a picture together, I was putting my phone away in my pocket, when all of a sudden Eric reached out a grabbed my hands and turned me around towards him. While holding my hands in his, he got down on his, which he has done jokingly in the past. So naturally I thought he was kidding and started laughing, telling him to stop it and turned to walk away. He pulled me back and said, "Hannah, I'm being serious can you come back here." I immediately stopped and turned around slowly with wide eyes in shock. I kept apologizing and telling him to start over and he said that he had a whole speech prepared! After laughing at each other, he started over pulling the ring out of his pocket and before I knew it, I was saying YES to the love of my life!
After a whirlwind of a year, Eric and I made the difficult decision of having a small ceremony on our wedding date and postponing our reception to a year later. On the day of our wedding, rain was in our forecast for the entire day, and though I know rain brings good luck, it was the last thing I wanted on our wedding day after all we had gone through. We prayed for sunshine and it turned out to be the most beautiful and sunny day and the rain came just as we were heading inside for cocktail hour. How lucky is that?! We were all able to have a nice dinner together downtown at Eno Vino by the Capitol, which is the same restaurant Eric and I had celebrated the day we got engaged. Though 08.28.20 was the most special day, we are even more excited to renew our vows and finally be able to celebrate with all of our friends and family!
