How We Met

Amelia's Best Friends Cute Roommate | March 2013

We met while I was visiting a friend at RIT for two weeks in March 2013. We spent the whole time living in the small college apartment Travis shared with roommates, yet we didn't speak more than a few sentences to each other as I am quite shy around new people. It wasn't until September 2013 where we reconnected when Travis sent a Facebook message to me saying he was seeing SNHU ads on his family's trip to Turks and Caicos. This started our messaging/texting friendship. It wasn't until April 2014 when I told Travis I liked him as more than a friend. Then I waited four painstaking hours for Travis to respond telling me he felt the same way. In June 2014, Travis met my parents where he immediately won over my dad, David, with his knowledge of fancy place settings and utensil placements at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. David then already had us married off before we had officially begun dating and was telling my aunt that he couldn't wait for Travis to be his son-in-law. The first time I met Travis' family was during my first trip to New Jersey in August 2014. The first words Mary, Travis' mom, and I spoke to one another were both of us admitting we had 'Facebook Stalked' each other...luckily the 'stalking' turned out well. Travis made sure I fit in well with his WHOLE family before he decided I could stick around for a while. He put me through a large family function and a game of Cards Against Humanity where his Uncle Glenn challenged me with his jokes and silly comments. Thankfully, two can play Glenn's game and I shot back with my own witty remarks. That was it, I had won over Travis' family, which meant I was in. A few days later on the last day of my NJ trip, Travis asked me to be his girlfriend and here we are almost six years later engaged to be married and parents to a beautiful fluffy sheepadoodle, Kona.

The Proposal

Weekend Getaway | August 4, 2018

To celebrate our four year anniversary, Travis booked a romantic getaway at the Glasbern Inn in Fogelsville PA. We arranged to have a couples massage and take a hike to see the Inn's new baby alpaca named Skittles. The massage was incredibly relaxing and then it was off to the hike. Unfortunately, there had been heavy rainfall the night before which flooded most of the hiking paths. We went anyway, a little bit of wet feet wouldn't keep us from finding Skittles! We walked as far as we could down the one path before deciding to turn back and head to a different trail. Once back at the main Inn house, I decided I wanted to change into dry socks for the second trail. We never ended up going on the second trail as I am a baby and didn't want to put my soaking wet sneakers back on. Little did I know, Travis' plan was to purpose during the hike...darn my distaste for wet shoes. After passing on the second trail, we decided to take a dip in their spa rock pool and then headed to dinner. We enjoyed a lovely five star meal and delicious dessert. Once back in our room, Travis and I stood talking about the day when Travis began poking me in the side playfully. He then knelt down, told me he loved me and asked if I would marry him not before I interrupted him, in normal Amelia fashion, with a kiss. I immediately said yes and he placed his Nana's ring on my finger. The next day when we were leaving the Glasbern Inn the first song that played in the car was the song I had mentioned months before would be a good choice to walk down the aisle to. There was never any question this song would be our choice for our processional music, but the fact that this song was the first we heard after getting engaged makes it even that much more special.
