We met in November 2010 at The Standard DTLA rooftop bar. We were both there with friends and spotted each other on the dance floor. We introduced ourselves, had a great conversation, danced, and when the bar was closing for the night, exchanged numbers on the escalator.
We had our first date at the Arclight in Hollywood. We had a drink at the theater bar then watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1. William drove all the way from Corona that night, and Kristine (not surprisingly) fell asleep during the movie. At the end of the night we made plans for the next time we would meet.
We had been dating for 6 months, driving back and forth and meeting in the middle between Riverside and the San Fernando Valley, when we attended our first Coachella Music Festival together. We had the best weekend spending time with friends, dancing, and being in each other's company. The last night of the festival, after walking back to our campsite, we made our relationship official (April 17, 2011).
In March 2018, we drove to Mammoth Lakes to spend a few days unwinding. We went on a hike through the picturesque, snow-covered mountains and came across a frozen lake. There was one other person there, so we asked her to take our picture. While posing, William got down on one knee and popped the question. Unfortunately, the woman taking the picture was having issues as she didn't know how to use a smartphone, so we ended up with several selfies of her instead! She was extremely apologetic and offered to re-take the pictures, which we happily staged afterward.
