We both graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, but technically that is not where we met. Billy's sister, Marybeth, and I met on our field hockey recruiting trip our senior year of high school, and once we both went to FDU, we instantly became best friends from day one. Billy and I knew of each other, and would say hello from time to time, but nothing more. A few times our families tried to set us up whether it was being a date to a wedding, or having us both at a family party, but still the timing didn't work. It wasn't until our families decided to spend New Year's Eve together at the Stockton Seaview Hotel on December 31, 2013. We ended up at the Harrah's Pool Bar ringing in the New Year together and the rest is history...
Billy and I were at my family beach house in Long Beach Island where we spend most of our summer weekends. It was just an ordinary summer day, or so I thought... We decided to take the boat out to enjoy some sunshine, and get some fishing in. Billy continued to ask multiple times if we were ready to head back, and typical stubborn me continuously said no. It was a beautiful day; we had nowhere to be, and no reason to head back early on a beautiful summer night. After a bit more pestering on Billy's end, we finally went back to the house. We grabbed a drink and headed down to the beach for a walk around sunset where he popped the question. Yoga pants, hair in a bun, and Billy in his bathing suit - it was absolutely perfect. That ordinary summer day quickly turned into one of the most exciting days of our lives!
