We meet at UNCG during the Fall semester of 2011. Jasmine was ending her volunteer shift at one of UNCG's blood drives as Justin was arriving to start his shift. Justin saw Jasmine and immediately struck up a friendly conversation which led to them exchanging numbers. They got together once that semester, but things didn't move much further past that. Everything is about timing, and that wasn't their time. Justin went on to graduate from undergrad that Spring and Jasmine transferred to Fayetteville State. After what felt like an eternity, they reconnected in 2014. This time around, they spent a lot more time together. Justin was determined to not allow Jasmine to slip away again. They started building a true friendship and by Christmas 2015, Justin knew exactly what he wanted. He asked Jasmine to be his date to his company's Christmas Party. That was their official "First Date." Needless to say, that date went very well.

In March 2018, Justin casually told Jasmine he was going to take her on a date. Their first stop was the Municipal Rose Gardens in San Jose, CA. Justin chose this location because this was one of the first places they visited together after Jasmine had joined him on the West Coast in 2017. Upon arriving they walked into the gardens they noticed what look like someone shooting a music video. Unbeknownst to Jasmine, everyone was there as a part of Justin's surprise to capture this special moment. Justin took a bathroom break and during this "break", he met with the photographer to go over the plan one last time. Jasmine felt like he was gone for a long time but thought nothing of it. Justin returned and they started to walk around the garden. After a couple of minutes, they were approached by the photographer asking if they like'd to be apart of the singer's music video and they agreed. During the shoot, the musician sang a few of Jasmine's favorite songs, and she STILL had NO clue that her boyfriend was prepping to ask a life-changing question.
