Driving to Humboldt: -From Sacramento: A) 5 North to 20 West (Clear Lake); 101 North (320 miles from Folsom) -not as many twists and turns in the road on 20 B) 5 North to 299 West (Eureka) to 101 South (313 miles from Folsom) -longer on the 5N (quicker) but more twists and turns on the 299 From San Fransisco: 101 North (296 miles from SFO) From Los Angeles: A) 5 North through Sacramento, 20 West, 101 North (660 miles, from South Bay) -quicker, but a loooong time on the 5 is meh B) 101 North the whole way! (695 miles, from South Bay) -scenic route along the coast is so gorgeous with many great places to stop -adds 35 miles, but probably 1-2 hours of driving time
