We met in 2013 as fresh faced interns at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Once they began Thursday Continuity Clinic together under Dr. Katie McPeak they soon realized they would be great friends, going for weekly post-clinic dinners when others wouldn't join. Despite Courtney's attempts to connect him with one of her many girl friends, the stars aligned on 12/06/2015 when they finally figured out that they may have been more than just friends... (PS: no one else seemed surprised by this).

After Courtney moved to Miami to start her Cardiology fellowship, she quickly realized she wanted John to join her. "Who doesn't want to live in Miami!" she'd protest weekly. After a few cuban sandwiches, cortaditos, and visits to the sunny weather, John was sold. He matched in a pediatric critical care fellowship at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in December 2017! On St. Patrick's day of 2017, Courtney traveled to chilly Philadelphia where the two had plans to drive to Connecticut for Courtney's birthday weekend. Unbeknownst to Courtney, John (with the help of his co-chief residents Emmanuelle and Nicki) had been planning to pop the big question. On 3/17, John picked Courtney up from the airport and, despite their plans to drive right to Connecticut, he apologetically explained he had yet to pack (knowing John, not an unexpected turn of events). They rushed back to John's Chinatown digs, and as they opened the door, Courtney swiftly realized this was all part of his master plan. Music was playing and tea lights were scattered throughout the apartment. They leafed through a photo album of their shared adventures before "proposing" their next big adventure...MARRIAGE! Tears and champagne bubbles were abundant! They then spent the weekend celebrating with friends and family!
