Old Hill Cider
Cute place with a great view of the mountains! Went here while touring the venue and they have great ciders! They do not have food, but they do apple picking. About a 30 min drive from venue.
Shenandoah National Park
This is a great place to go this time of year with the trees changing colors. Skyline Drive is a beautiful drive and many pull off spots to take in the view. There is a fee to enter into the park. About 25 minutes away from venue. Great spot for sunset or sunrise (if you want to get up that early). Many great hikes along skyline drive: stony man is a great short hike with a wonderful view.
Carter Mountain Orchard and Country Store
Visit the place we got engaged!! Carter Mountain holds such a special place in our hearts. Our fall tradition while living in Virginia was to go apple picking and stop by Bold Rock cidery while enjoying the beautiful weather and views. Apples, hard cider, apple cider donuts, pumpkins, and more! If you get a chance, would be a fun stop to check out. Also right by downtown Charlottesville that has nice restaurants, creamery, and shops!
Harrisonburg
Go back to the place Austin and Abigail met. Can walk through James Madison University and sit on the quad or explore the cute downtown area of Harrisonburg. Great places to stop into to get a drink or food: Billy Jacks, Magnolia's Taco and Tequila Bar, Jack Browns, Clementine's, Ruby's Arcade, Jimmy Madisons, and many more. Highly recommend Xenia's (it is not downtown but in the city of harrisonburg). 35 minutes from venue.
Nelson 151
We love this highway! Place to go for breweries, cideries, wineries. Most places have food and snacks to enjoy as well and great atmospheres! Here are a few of our favorites on the highway: Bold Rock Cidery, Blue Toad Cidery, Devil's Backbone Brewery, Three Notched, Veritas Winery, Brewing Tree, Blue Mountain Brewery, Silverback Distillery, and many more!
Luray Caverns
If you want to escape into a cave and look at impressive caverns, then Luray Caverns is the place to go! There is a fee - buy tickets in advance if you plan on going. About 10 minutes from venue.
