Our story begins when Jake and I met in early Summer 2015 during our last semester in Kalamazoo. One night one of my girlfriends dragged me to a downtown bar called “Wild Bull”. It was my first time there and wasn’t exactly my scene- until Jake and I locked eyes. He was working there as a bouncer at the time. My assumption before meeting him was that he was just a beefy, meathead bouncer but shortly after talking to him I could tell he was genuine and kind. We exchanged numbers that night and eventually went on our first date. We hit it off immediately and Jake says that it was still the best first date he’s ever had. Eventually, the summer came to an end, Jake officially passed his final flight test and became a licensed commercial pilot. We had a teary goodbye and he returned to his home state of New York. Although at the time we were not officially dating, we stayed in contact via text every day and had strong feelings of LoVe for one another! After being apart for over four months, we reunited for a weekend-long date in Michigan. Shortly after this, Jake made things official by asking me to be his girlfriend in February 2016. Fast-forward to October 2019, we went on vacation in sunny Palm Springs, California. It was our first full day there exploring and we took a beautiful hike through Tahquitz Canyon. Jake told me he was looking for the perfect backdrop to snap a picture of me. Finally, we came to a wonderful flat-rock lookout point. He asked me to face away from him so he could take a panoramic of me looking out at the mountains. After three attempts to get the perfect pic, (I later found out it was really because he couldn’t get the ring box out of our backpack!) I turned around and there he was, kneeling and asking me to marry him! It was a wonderful moment and the entire weekend was one we will always remember. We are so excited to tie the knot and we hope you can join us on our wedding day!
