Our story started out as a typical modern love story: we met on a dating app as many other couples have before us. What wasn’t so typical was the impending Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. In fact, our first date was the day North Carolina closed in person dining at all restaurants and bars. Definitely not the ideal circumstances for a first date! We met at Suffolk Punch, a popular Charlotte brewery, for “takeout drinks” and a walk along the light rail. We connected over our similar upbringings, college experiences in NC, family values, and love of Harry Potter. The lockdown allowed us to get to know each other and focus on our connection without all the usual life distractions. Anthony introduced Steph to Lord of the Rings and golf (Steph still isn’t sure how she feels about either) while Steph introduced Anthony to daily cups of coffee and wine- the perfect give and take. That give and take has continued throughout the course of our relationship, and ultimately led us here. We are so excited to share our special day with all of you!
Anthony knew he wanted to propose in a special way, but he wasn’t sure what to do. After giving it a lot of thought, he decided he would take Steph to Rosie’s Wine Garden, the site of their first “official” date after covid restrictions were lifted in Charlotte and propose there. He lured Steph there under the guise of a wine tasting (not that she needed much convincing- wine and gardens are 2 of her favorite things!) He took Steph to a peaceful area of the gardens and got down on one knee! Steph’s parents, sister, brother-in-law, and best friend arrived shortly after to celebrate with champagne and charcuterie. It was a very sweet and meaningful proposal with wonderful family and friends to share the moment with.
