Reese "shot his shot" by messaging me over Instagram in November of 2020. His first message to me was "axe 'em" which is Stephen F Austin State University's motto, and I knew right away that he loved the lumberjacks so I should give him a shot. A few days of chatting back and forth, we met in person at Bakers Street Pub in Katy, Tx on 11/21/2020, and the rest was history.

I first got Courtney's engagement ring in March 2022, but I had no idea how I wanted to propose. Courtney said something which made a light bulb go off in my head "Please don't make it one of your bits!" From there I knew I had to do something which would be sentimental, memorable, and would encompass our entire relationship. The plan was inspired by an episode of Parks and Recreation where the main character sent her fiancé on a scavenger around to places that were sentimental in their relationship. It had always stuck with me, and I always thought that was a clever idea. It would have been impossible for me to be waiting for Courtney at every single stop or be her guide on this journey because as we all know, Courtney would be asking me just to propose already. I enlisted some of our closest friends and our families to meet Courtney as she was on this journey and her sister/my future sister-in-law, Shelby was her excellent guide on this experience. The day had arrived. It was October 8th. Everyone was in place. I was ready with all the clues, and I gave her the first clue along with her breakfast. She was on her way to see where this hunt would take her and see everyone she loves. At the end, Courtney met Brittney, her childhood best friend, at Baker Street in Cinco Ranch. This is where Courtney and I first met, and Brittney just so happened to "show up" during our first date. Courtney then met me at the spot where we first kissed, and I asked her to spend the rest of her life with me.
