Haley and Wade both worked at Winter Park Resort for multiple years. Haley was a ski instructor and Wade was a lift operator that would help her kids load the lift but they did not have any interactions outside of this. After two years of living at Winter Park, Haley moved to Denver to get her masters in teaching. She still drove up to Winter Park to teach skiing on the weekends. On the last weekend of the season, Haley and her friends skied all day and decided to go to the local Mexican restaurant Casa Mexico. Haley's friend Kristin knew Wade and requested him to be their waiter. Wade asked them what they were going to be doing for the rest of the night and found out that they would probably be at the local bar, Ullrs. When Haley left the restaurant her friend Amanda had accidentally left her beanie on the seat. Wade saw this as his opportunity to meet up with them later that night. After Wade got off work he brought the hat to Ullrs where he was happy to find Haley and her friends. Haley and Wade ended up hitting it off and dancing together. When the night was coming to an end they exchanged phone numbers and went their separate ways. Wade told Haley, "let me know when you come back up to Winter Park." Since the ski season was now over and Haley was going to move back to her home state of Washington to start her teaching career in the fall, she didn't have a reason to go back up to the mountains. So a couple of weeks went by and Wade never heard from Haley until one morning when he woke up from having a dream about her. Wade decided to send her a message and ask her out on a date. She said yes to meeting him for a date halfway between Denver and Winter Park. It was the best first date either of them had been on. From there they continued to date throughout the summer. Wade fell in love and decided that he had to follow Haley to Washington. Now they are happier than ever and are excited to get married!

Haley's brother Nate signed her up for a marathon and she convinced Wade to run it with her. They started training and spent many hours running together to prepare for their first marathon. When they found out that the marathon would be cancelled due to Covid-19 guidelines, they decided to run the course on their own. Wade even signed them up for an official "Social Distance Marathon" which sent him race tags and medals! Since the water stations along the course would no longer be available, Nate offered to be their personal aid station and biked a few miles ahead of them with extra water and Gatorade. He even acted as a videographer to document their run which would turn out to be Haley and Wade's favorite Instagram story. :) On the morning of August 15, 2020, Wade and Haley started their run through the Hyak tunnel. Haley took off at a fast pace so Wade had to remind her that they had 26.2 miles to run and that they needed to pace themselves (He also wanted her to be able to stand at the end of the race for his plan to work out!). At about the 20 mile mark Haley's family cheered them on with signs and music which was much needed for the last stretch of the run. When they finally saw the finish line, Haley's family was there to congratulate them with balloons and coconut water. Wade brought the medals out and they stood for pictures when all of a sudden Haley saw him drop to his knee with a ring and ask her to marry him. She immediately said yes!
