Our Story

September of 2017

In September of 2017, Maddy was waiting to be picked up by her friend Daniel to go play volleyball. He had let her know that she didn't know any of the other guys coming to play with them, so naturally, Maddy was excited to make some new friends. Little did she know, that as soon as she hopped in the car, she would make eye contact with her future husband, Nick. The two of them snuck glances at each other all night, and both quickly became infatuated with one another. Maddy was soon accepted as "one of the guys", and began to hang out with Nick and his roommates regularly. One particular movie night, Maddy built up the courage to grab Nick's hand and hold it, and the rest is history. Their first date at The Med lasted over three hours and marked the start of Maddy & Nick accidentally ordering the exact same thing at every restaurant they go to. Maddy may have said "I love you" and asked Nick to be her boyfriend first, but 1 1/2 years later, he asked her the most important question of all.

The Proposal

July 19th, 2019

After spending a beautiful week in Lake Powell, Nick asked Maddy if she wanted to go check out Rainbow Bridge. Nick had been going to Lake Powell since he was little, so Rainbow Bridge was a very special place for him and his family. Maddy agreed, and the two of them set off on Cheetah, the family ski boat. When they arrived at the docks for Rainbow Bridge, not a single person was there. Considering it was peak season, this was quite uncommon. After tying off the boat, Maddy and Nick hiked up towards Rainbow Bridge. As Maddy walked ahead, eager to get there, Nick hung back, trying to control his nerves. In his pocket was Maddy's dream ring, and he was about to ask her to be his wife. When they arrived at the base of Rainbow Bridge, Nick suggested they take some photos. He propped up his phone on a rock and used self-timer to snap a few shots of them. After several cheesy poses, Nick set the timer for the most important photo yet, the proposal photo. Nick told Maddy to turn around and face the arch with her arms out. When she turned back around, Nick was down on one knee. Maddy realized what was happening, and they both began to cry tears of joy. They told each other of their love for one another and how they want to be together for the rest of their lives, Nick slipped the ring on Maddy's finger, and she said YES! That day still remains the happiest day in Nick & Maddy's life, and they can't wait for the next best day: their wedding day!
