Vincent and Kristi met while attending their friend Scott's house warming party. Both needed a beer pong partner and decided to join forces. Kristi's first impression of Vinny was that he was a very friendly old soul that didn't get upset with her lack of aim. Vinny's first impression of Kristi was that she was super cool. A few weeks later, Vinny hopped a plane to Costa Rica. The two would meet up again in the fall when they were part of the same dodgeball team. The friendship continued to grow through kickball seasons, pub trivia, board game nights, and pot luck parties. Then, Vinny hopped on another plane to Spain, where he sent many snaps of his travels to the envious Kristi. Luckily, Vinny was able to return before COVID-19 locked the world down and everything was put on pause. Things were starting to return back to normal on July 20, 2021. Bucks in Six night. Vinny and Kristi went with a couple other friends to local dive bar, Players, to celebrate. They decided to play a game of darts with their friends Amanda and Jaime. It was coming down to the wire, Vinny just needed to hit a bullseye to win, and he started getting some unwanted attention from a much, much older woman. Kristi, being the nice person that she is, asked Vinny if she should pretend to be his girlfriend. Vinny insisted that he was a big boy and could handle it on his own. A few minutes later he changed his mind and as Vinny likes to state, "She hasn't stopped pretending yet". Though the two are not a big fan of labels, their relationship went from being friends, to dating, to partners and they wouldn't want it any other way.
Vinny had a plan and was hoping to wait until February, 9th. However, after a day spent with friends and family, looking at houses, Vinny couldn't wait. The moment just felt right. Kristi asked Vinny if he would clean a cast iron pan (Kristi swears he can do this better than she can). While Kristi wasn't looking, Vinny slipped a keychain onto their dog, Huckleberry's, collar. Huckleberry tends to follow Kristi around the house and when she finally sat down, Huck jumped up next to her. Kristi saw the keychain attached to the collar and went to read what it said: "Say Yes". Kristi yelled out to Vinny, not sure if she was jumping to conclusions or not. Since Vinny was washing dishes, he could not hear what she was saying and Kristi had to wait for what felt like hours. Vinny rounded the corner with a smirk on his face as Kristi asked about the keychain again. Vinny pulled out the ring from his pocket and asked Kristi THE question. Kristi, who is always cool under pressure, responded with "Duh! You already know the answer!" Vincent and Kristi are very excited to start the next chapter of their lives together and look forward to celebrating with their friends and family.
Kristi and Vinny aren't the most traditional people, and because of this, they decided to secretly elope on their anniversary date! Vinny researched places in Colorado to hike and share vows and hold a private ceremony with each other. Since in Colorado you can self-solemnize your wedding, no officiant was needed. This left Kristi and Vinny with the personal, private ceremony they wanted, while also taking the pressure off the big celebration day for the next year. After their wedding ceremony, Kristi and Vinny spent the night in the famed Stanley Hotel, the site of inspiration for Stephen King's "The Shining." While there were no ghosts to behold, they still enjoyed their time there, including discovering the existence of basil hummus! They proceeded to enjoy the rest of their 2 week road-trip around the U.S. with two additional weddings to attend (shout out to the other newlyweds, Sandy & Nick and Whitley & Zach). Upon returning home, they were able to share the exciting news with immediate family, who were sworn into secrecy.
Kristi and Vinny were originally planning on celebrating their wedding on the 1st anniversary, July 20th, 2024, however, plans have clearly changed. They are now expecting their first child in June of 2024! While this is incredibly exciting, it felt like it would be too much to have a wedding celebration a mere month after the expected birth. They look forward to welcoming this new member to their growing family, and hope to introduce them this summer!
