How They Met...

...in Tacoma, "The City of Destiny".

It was 2016. Carla had just moved to Tacoma. James was traveling to the West side more and more for work and looking to relocate. Out of pure luck, they happened to match on a dating app and started chatting. Since James still lived in Spokane - 300mi on the other side of the state - and Carla was flying back to Florida during her weeks off, it took a couple months before the two actually met. It was on August 28, 2016 that they finally met up at Dorky's Barcade in Tacoma. Despite Carla failing at all of the video games, she still impressed him enough and they made sure to see each other again. One of these dates included James taking Carla to Spokane. The two drove across the state and he showed her around the Bavarian town of Leavenworth tucked away in the mountains (remember this for later, guys!), and around Spokane - taking in Scarywood and a college football game (Go Cougs!). It was here that they officially became "James and Carla". They remained long-distance for some time, visiting each other and taking trips together whenever they could - James showing Carla around the PNW, Carla taking James back to Florida and enlightening him on the glory of SEC Football. After a few months however, Carla decided to move to Spokane. So in May 2017, she packed up Sadie and her little Honda and made her last trip across the pass to settle in eastern Washington. Then, in November 12, 2019 Carla joined James for another work trip. He was going to Leavenworth and she figured she'd come along for a little getaway and to check out the town decked out in Christmas lights. It was on this night, while they were on their way to dinner that James took Carla to the town square and amongst all the bright Christmas lights, he asked her to marry him. And! Spoiler alert! She said, "YES!"
