Canyon Overlook Trail

Canyon Overlook in Zion National Park is a family-friendly trail on the east side of Zion that features big horn sheep sightings, caves (kinda) and one of the most breathtaking views in the park. You can drive to this trail although the parking lot is small and limited. If it’s not looking good, you can pull out and go a little farther up the road, and there is a very small parking area to your left. LENGTH 1.25 miles round trip. DIFFICULTY This is an easy family friendly hike with very little elevation gain. Beware, there are steep drop-offs on this trail, so it is very important to keep an eye on your children at all times. TRAIL DETAILS The trail is mostly level, but in the very beginning there are some very short uphill switchbacks LOCATION This trail is located on the east side of Zion, just east of the Carmel Tunnel.

Hike the FAMOUS Narrows!

If you plan to do this hike we recommend you try to get on the first shuttle bus out!, It's peak season and can be crowded,

LENGTH To get to the turn around point at Big Springs (a permit is needed to go any further) it is 4.5 miles one way, including the paved hiking on Riverside Walk. To make it to the famous section in The Narrows called Wall Street it is 2.5 miles one way. DIFFICULTY The difficulty of The Narrows lies in all the climbing up, over, and around all the big and small rocks in and out of the river. LOCATION To get to this trail you will get off on the very last shuttle stop, Temple Of Sinawava. It's a 40-minute scenic shuttle ride from the visitor center and only accessible via the shuttle. You will hike the Riverside Walk trail to get to the start of The Narrows. TRAIL DETAILS The majority of the trail you will be hiking in knee-deep water along the Virgin River and crossing from one side to the other depending on the rocky condition and depth of the river. Around every corner, there are views that will take your breath away.

The Temple of Sinawava- Paved Hike - Ride the shuttle to stop 9

The Temple of Sinawava is the park's hallmark, with its paved trail following the Virgin River upstream through ever-narrowing canyons of sandstone to the Zion Narrows, framed by hanging gardens of flowers and waterfalls. Just one mile in length and paved over the entire route, the Riverside Walk is the park's most popular hike, ending at the Zion Narrows. Fully accessible to those with special needs, the walk is as easy as a sidewalk stroll, making it perfect for everyone.

Emerald Pools Hike- Kid Friendly!

Time Required: 2-4 hours Length: Roughly 2 miles, depending on which loops you hike LOWER EMERALD POOLS: In less than half a mile, the vegetation becomes more lush and the trail makes its way along a tall alcove under two tall waterfalls and the pools below. Getting to this point is quite easy even for the elderly and baby-strollers. MIDDLE EMERALD POOLS: Beyond the alcove, the trail gets more difficult and steps up and around to bring you on top of the cliff that you just walked under. The middle "pools" are the streams that form the waterfalls. This section is quite beautiful. UPPER EMERALD POOL: The final stretch is a hot and sandy quarter mile, but it is well worth the effort to get to the final pool at the base of the 300-foot cliffs above. The upper pool area is a great area to find a shaded boulder to relax and have lunch. For the return trip, you can either retrace your path or take the optional loop back to the Lodge.

Pa'Rus Trail- Check out where we got ENGAGED!- No Shuttle Necessary

Pa'Rus Trail (1.7 miles one way and mostly level on a paved trail) Named after the Paiute word for "bubbling water," the Pa'rus Trail is one of the newer and most accessible trails in Zion National Park. It is the only trail in Zion that is open to bicycles and pets, and it is also one of the few wheelchair-accessible trails in the park. Enjoy this trail for sunrise or sunset, but avoid during mid day due to heat/exposure.

The Watchman Trail- Low Impact-No Shuttle Necessary

Trail Type: Hiking, Out & Back Length: 3 miles roundtrip Difficulty: Easy The trailhead is located near the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, across the street from the shuttle stop. A sign marks the trail. The route skirts below the Watchman Campground. WATCHMAN OVERLOOK The overlook includes a small (third of a mile) loop trail that follows the edge of the Watchman bench. The loop trail is very scenic and highly recommended by those who have hiked the trail. The trail is mostly family-friendly, but keep a close eye on children as there are a few cliff edges to pay attention to. This trail is completely exposed to the sun, so during the hot summer months, this hike is best done on a cloudy day or in the morning when this side of the main canyon is still in the shade.

Lower Pine Creek Falls - Secret Waterfall Hike in Zion

You can access this trial without taking the shuttle,

The Lower Pine Creek Falls Trail is one of those rare hikes in Zion National Park that is not advertised by the park. The picturesque pond and 15-foot waterfall may take some stream hopping and boulder climbing to get to, but once you are there, you may never want to leave. LOCATION From the Zion Visitor Center drive 1.5 miles north on Route 9 (the main road going through Zion). Just before you start rounding to go up the series of switchbacks that take you up to the Carmel Tunnel, pull over to a small paved parking area to your left. If you go over a bridge, you have gone too far. LENGTH This hike is a short .70 miles round trip but don't let that fool you DIFFICULTY The difficulty of this trail lies in the stream hopping and boulder climbing that you have to do in order to get to the pool and waterfall. If you are more comfortable with a flat paved trail, this is not the hike for you. The pools are permitted for swimming- make sure to bring suits, water shoes and plenty of snacks.
