Victor and Teresa met in 2015. At that time Victor was attending Greater New Jerusalem in Indianola under the leadership of Pastor Henry and Lady Sarah Walker. Without any prompting from Victor or Teresa, Lady Walker decided it was time to play matchmaker. Lady Walker informed Victor that she knew this young lady who would be good for him. She didn’t know much about her except for what she saw at church and the fact that “she loves to do praise and worship”! She asked if it was okay to give out his number. Lady Walker then called Teresa and said “Teresa, there’s a young man in my church and when he walked in the service – all I saw was your face. I think you and him need to talk”. Victor and Teresa had a conversation later that night only to find out they had many things in common. The similarities were amazing! Their upbringing in the church; previous employment with the same company (Job Corps); career choice (Educators); their love for young people; and them both being members of the Divine 9 (Alpha and Zeta) aligned perfectly and made the conversation easy. Yes, this certainly seemed like a match. Victor and Teresa soon went out on their first date and continued to communicate. Unfortunately, the relationship did not blossom at that particular time. The communication between Victor and Teresa ceased and they did not talk or see each other for a few years. HOWEVER, in 2019 the Lord used Lady Walker again. Teresa received an invite to speak at Greater New Jerusalem’s Women’s Conference and guess who showed up – VICTOR!! Although they had not spoken in a few years – nothing seemed to have changed! Teresa and Victor had an extensive conversation that night and it was obvious that the interest was still there. The energy and the attraction between the two was evident. Victor and Teresa continued to spend time together and getting to know each other again. Even through COVID, their bond continued to get stronger. There was something DIFFERENT about this time. Victor and Teresa both seemed READY to embrace the second opportunity God had given them. They both were very intentional as they entered into a committed relationship. In other words, they both knew what they wanted and they found it in each other. God used the “church lady” as the conduit to bring this union together. This was not by accident or luck. This was the Lord’s doing and it’s marvelous in our eyes.
