We first met in March of 2014 on a warm Sunday afternoon at a trendy little bar in Hayes valley called Brass Tacks. This is where the story diverges. Kevin's version of events: I wasn't looking for love that day. In fact, I was doing everything I could to avoid love. So cynical was I, that I scheduled a dinner date that same evening. That was until Vicky walked in. I sat mesmerized by this lovely woman sitting across from me and remember being shocked that she actually seemed interested in whatever story I was sharing. I don't remember much of the conversation, I remember being bold and asking if she kissed on the first date. I don't know why I asked that, I'm normally quite shy. When she said no, I took it as a challenge to see if she might bend that rule and doubled down on my story telling. I canceled my other plans and we spent the day eating and drinking at various little spots along Hayes. At the end of the evening, I leaned in and we kissed. Thank goodness she broke that first rule, its been a joy to push each other's boundaries and go on wonderful adventures together ever since. We have traveled extensively through Asia, Europe and Mexico, tasting over 40 mezcals in one day, backpacking in the Sierrras, fording fast flowing creek beds, countless road trips, buying a house and then renovating it, and now getting married. Vicky gives me the confidence and loving support we need to live our life's full potential every day. Vicky's version of events: It was a beautiful afternoon. I was running late. I remember some mention of another dinner plan. But, I just wanted someone to buy me a drink and he is cute. He was welcome to leave when he liked. I am glad that he cancelled his dinner plan and extended our date. I don't recall everything he said, but he definitely had a lot of a stories, especial funny stories. Come to think of it, I don't know what he is talking about most of the time, I just liked his energy and passion for whatever he is talking about. It's not that we had a lot of things in common to talk about, Kevin just had a lot of stories to share. I found out later when I asked him to tell me a story that he had told me every story he knew on the first date. I remember I told him I don't normally kiss on a first date, but when he leaned in for a kiss, I thought it might be the only way to get him to shut up. It still works! Kevin is kind and caring and his passion and energy for experiences and exploration are infectious. He has a way of bringing you in and getting you to catch his enthusiasm. Everywhere we go and everything we do is joyous and easy. I am so happy we are continuing this adventure together as husband and wife.
