"Why isn't our program getting Facts Friday in our inboxes?" Valerie wanted to know, and only Dylan could answer. The disability nonprofit world’s hottest electronic staff newsletter wasn’t getting delivered to Valerie’s Staten Island-based day program. Dylan, recently returned to his communication role after a brief sabbatical, promised he would look into the email quandary. He contacted Valerie early the following week to say that Facts Friday should be arriving more regularly. It was a pleasant, passing interaction that could never have foretold their futures together. Fast forward one year to March 2017. Dylan was eating with his regular lunch-with-friends group when a new girl showed up. She wore neat professional attire and had a bright smile that could light up the gloomy lunchroom. It took Dylan some time to make the connection back to Staten Island, but Valerie and he became quick friends through their interests in music, movies, Jeopardy, and family. More serious feelings developed over the next few months. Valerie and Dylan went on their first date on December 14, 2017. They made it “official” the following month on January 24th, and on October 22, 2022, they entered into forever by agreeing to become engaged to one another. Their message to you as they begin the next stage of their lives: “We are so excited to share our love with the people who matter most to us—our families, the wedding party, and all of our friends. We are blessed to have all of you in our life.”
