We were celebrating our 10 year Anniversary in NYC with dinner and a show. We bought the tickets for Book of Mormon a few months prior. I ended up getting the flu the week before and was so disappointed about possibly missing the show and not being able to celebrate our anniversary. Unbeknownst to me, Dave was internally freaking out because he had been planning the engagement for some time. Thankfully, 2 days prior to the day, my fever broke and I was feeling like myself again. We got into the city with plenty of time to walk around, grab a coffee and see a street show...which Dave got pulled into! We had some time to kill before dinner so Dave suggested we have a drink at Bar 54, a rooftop bar above The Hyatt. We were the first few people when they opened to get into the elevator. We ended up not being able to get to the floor for almost 10 minutes due to some type of security timing set on the elevators. We hopped out a few floors below thinking we could walk up the stairs, to no avail. Again, Dave was freaking out thinking he was going to have to propose on the stairwell. After much confusion, the elevator worked and we finally get to the bar, ordered a drink and went outside onto the rooftop. It was so magical with the sun setting on the view so I had to get a picture. Dave asked a gentleman to take our picture but quietly asked him to keep the phone on video because he was going to ask me to marry him. He starting talking and I thought he was giving me earrings when he took the box out of his jacket. But when he got down on one knee, I knew what was happening. I immediately started crying. I have no idea what he said but of course, I said yes! It truly was a beautiful night. An absolute dream come true!
