Well I started at McDonald's when I moved to Rexburg. Sam was one of the managers and I could tell I wanted to be her friend. That slowly (and not so subtly) turned into quite the crush. When I found out Sam was transferring to Montana I spent about a month figuring out how to ask her out... thankfully a week or two before she moved she asked me out instead. Immediately I could tell this is someone I would try long distance for.- Emily At the beginning I felt something very special and intriguing about Emily, instantly I thought "I want to be her friend and get to know her" ... well that turned into much more when I found out she liked me... Now there was a chance. I couldn't stop thinking about her, I was so nervous to talk to her, and didn't really know what was going on. I finally got up the courage to ask her out and that turned into her thinking it was just coffee with a friend. I was enamored at that first not-even-date and I couldn't stop thinking about her. Few days later I asked her on a real date, and we spent the evening in the back of my car playing games, getting to know each other, and sharing stories. This was in October in Idaho... So I brought many blankets, a heated blanket, twinkly lights and I even made my own 'get to know you game'. Somewhat intimate for a first date, but we'd already known each other for over a year. Fast forward and the timeline goes like this... We date in person for about 3 weeks, I travel to Costa Rica for a month and Michigan for a week before moving to Montana. We date long-distance and see each other almost every month (only missed 1 month!). Emily moves in with me 9 months later, and we get engaged about a year later. Wedding date is set for a year after that. I'm so glad we found each other. Sometimes I think back at our crazy story and I'm just grateful that we both took a chance on each other. We're each others first and last girl kiss, girlfriend, and I can't believe I'll be able to call her my wife. - Sam
We were driving to Portland to visit my family. It is a 10 hour drive so Sam planned a stop in Coeur d'Alene Idaho, which is about 4 hours into the drive. At first I just wanted to get back on the road, really not sure why we were going on a walk around the lake. Sam set up lanterns with pictures of us on our many adventures and made it such a special experience. Immediately I said the easiest yes of my life!- Emily We both wanted to propose, and Emily beat me to it! I had been begging for a surprise dual proposal, which is pretty hard to coordinate by the way... She planned a fun day in Great Falls, Montana; I was positive she was proposing that day so I dressed nice and put on nails, and packed my tripod. We toured around a museum and waterfalls. When she asked me to marry her, it was like something I've never felt. I was nervous, crying, excited, and overjoyed. I couldn't believe it, even though I knew it was happening. - Sam We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Glacier!
