From Friendship to Love

Tyré’s story It was New Year’s Eve 2018 and I was on my way to Life Church’s New Year’s service. I arrived at the venue and was greeted by a man I’d seen in passing. He handed me an itinerary for the night. I couldn’t help but to think, “who are you and who made you an usher? Aren’t you new here? Can I point YOU in the direction of where to go?” I continued walking and enjoyed the service with my family. Little did I know, I had just walked past my future husband. A few months later, Hasan and I officially met when he volunteered to help with a kids event at our church. I was skeptical and wanted to know more about this new guy who was suddenly joining a bunch of teams in the church. I observed him from afar and then followed him on Instagram. What started as skepticism quickly turned into friendship. We started talking more often as we served in the church together. Our conversations went from being about serving to everything under the sun. Talking to him was easy. For the next four years, he became my friend. In 2022, our friendship began to change. I started noticing how sweet Hasan was to me, how great we worked together, and how handsome he was. One Sunday in February 2022, my nephew, Nicholas, decided to invite Hasan over to play 2K with him. After the game was over, I invited Hasan to chill for a bit. This was the first time we had ever spent time together by ourselves. We talked and played games until two in the morning. Neither of us wanted the night to end. Everything was going so smoothly, and I began to feel confusing emotions for my friend that I had never experienced before. Hasan reached out to me every single day after this night. It was becoming clear that he wanted to explore something more than just friendship. I was nervous, so I spoke to my family about him and my cousin Travis told me, “Life is for living.” My cousins, sister, and I came to the conclusion that I should give it a try, that it would only be about three months out of my life, and then I would never have to wonder about Hasan again. I was comforted by this thought. The following week, Hasan took me out to a Mexican restaurant for our first official date. He made it clear that he wanted to explore the idea of a relationship. About a week after this, I invited Hasan to my apartment to hang out. I had the table lined with snacks, a charcuterie board with different fruits, an assortment of drinks, and games. Everything had to be perfect. I was nervous but excited. That night we ate, we drank, and we talked about things that we never spoke to anyone about. We expressed our deepest hurts, our fears, and we also laughed and were able to be silly with each other. At about 5am, we knew that the night would soon be coming to an end but neither of us wanted him to leave. It was around this time that Hasan looked at me and he said, “you ready to be my girl now, or nah?” I was struck and I was scared but I knew what I wanted deep down. I responded, “yeah, let’s do it.” That night/morning we shared our first kiss. I dropped Hasan home at 9am and went right to work at 10am. We often refer to that night as “The Magical Night.” What was supposed to be a “3 month tester” turned into two years and counting of the best love I could ever imagine. I truly married my best friend, and this is just the beginning.

A Life Church Love Story

Hasan’s story Once upon a time, in the heart of the bustling city, there was a church where love was destined to bloom. Hasan and Tyré crossed paths in the most unexpected of places — a New Year’s Eve service. Little did they know, this chance encounter would be the beginning of a beautiful love story. It all started at Life Church. Week after week, Hasan and Tyré grew closer as friends. They shared laughter, deep conversations, and a shared passion for serving others. Together, they became Sunday school teachers, guiding young hearts and nurturing their faith. It wasn't until they were cast in the church’s play that sparks began to fly. As they rehearsed their lines and shared the stage, they discovered a connection that went beyond friendship. The chemistry between them was undeniable. Hasan couldn't resist Tyré's infectious smile and kind heart. They were falling in love, and it felt like a dream come true. On a magical evening filled with laughter and stolen glances, Hasan finally asked Tyré to be his girlfriend after hours of sharing memories and building a connection. Their love story continued to unfold as they navigated life, always leaning on each other for support. They built a strong foundation of trust, respect, and unwavering love. Their journey was filled with adventures, big and small, as they explored the world hand in hand. One night, on Tyré’s birthday, surrounded by loved ones, Hasan asked Tyré to be his wife. Two months later, they exchanged vows, promising to love and cherish each other for a lifetime. Their wedding was a celebration of their love, a testament to their journey. Now, as they continue their journey as husband and wife, Hasan and Tyré know that their love story is just beginning. They are each other's biggest cheerleaders, partners in crime, and best friends. Together, they will face whatever life throws their way, knowing that their love for Jesus Christ, and love for each other, will outlast death itself.
