Tyler and I had previously met back when we were around 18 when he would come in to the Energy Station with his friends and I would wait on them. We both were dating other people at the time so nothing materialized until 6 years later when he started working there as a cook. I had my eye on him for awhile before I did anything about it but once I did (yes it was me who made the first move 🙈) we hit it off and I knew pretty quickly that I had found my person in Tyler.
Tyler and I talked a lot about getting married so I knew it was in our future but I had no idea when it would happen. In August of 2020 we were in Sea Isle for the annual family vacation which is always a blast. One night we were out on the deck and Tyler’s sister Maddie called him and told him she wanted to talk to him about something. For some reason I just had this feeling that it had something to do with him proposing but when I brought it up to him after the conversation he threw me right off the track, so far off that I was a little upset after that but the next day I knew why. Maddie, her then fiancé now husband Dan, Tyler and I went out for dinner that next night and then had plans to go on the beach at sunset and take pictures with the family. Tyler and I were getting our pictures taken first when Maddie told us to change positions which was really code for him to go for it but in typical Tyler fashion just switched sides with me and didn’t get the hint 🤣 then all of a sudden he starts to get down on one knee and says “I hope the surprise wasn’t ruined” and asked me to marry him! He honestly couldn’t have done it any better and I couldn’t have been any more surprised! The fact that his family was there and FaceTimed my mom in to see the whole thing meant the world to me. It also meant a lot that he had asked my dad prior to that vacation for his approval which I knew about but had no idea it was coming on that same trip! I am over the moon to finally be marrying my best friend this coming year!
