“Sometimes you'll meet somebody, one person, who changes the rest of your life. They don't have to be your color, they don't have to be your culture, or from your country, but God will use them to revolutionize your life. And everybody you met before was scaffolding, just used to bring you to the point of where you are right now.” Tyler and Sahana met in the summer of 2019 in San Francisco after connecting online. They met at an Indian restaurant and their date went so well that they stayed till the restaurant's closing time and had to be kicked out. They discovered they had many things in common - value systems, families, jobs, and education. Smitten with each other, they both confess that the third date where they went salsa dancing was when they knew they wanted something more. They continued to spend more time with each other on many other dates - dinner, movies, hikes, hanging out with friends. Reminiscing on this, they realized they had seven dates within the first two weeks of meeting each other.
They both love spending time with one another. They also had the opportunity to spend time with each other’s families. After having a wonderful summer, it was a deep knowing for both of them that they were with the one they were meant to be with. It was everywhere around them - unexpectedly weird coincidences and similarities in their families, perfect timing for every plan and just the absolute simplicity and strength of walking in unity. They say when you know, you know - and that was true for both of them. On a beautiful sunset in Sedona, Tyler asked Sahana’s father permission to marry Sahana - having already asked her mother over the phone. Having both their parents’ approval and blessing was important to them and they feel grateful and excited to have so much support and love from their loved ones. To be accepted into another family and loved dearly was a dream come true for both of them.
For Tyler, the idea for asking Sahana to marry him came in part from inspiration from his own parents. His father had asked his mother to marry him on a billboard in ORU, Tulsa. Both having looked at rings together, Tyler made an elaborate plan to keep Sahana in suspense. On November 16, he proposed to her in Times Square in New York City on a billboard - the same one on Good Morning America! He also surprised her by inviting her father and sister there. It was an amazing weekend beyond words and a beautiful start to their engagement. Given how perfectly everything fell into place, they acknowledge the hand of God in all of this and for that they are grateful. Watch it here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpIPXHonPc8
