We met online (go figure), and Naya messaged him first with a great pickup line: 'You had me at craft beer and Lord of the Rings.' The day after our virtual meeting, we decided to meet in person, and Tyler came over to Naya's apartment to share some craft beer and watch Lord of the Rings together. Naya had plans to make Monte Cristos but needed to go to the store for a few things. It started to snow, and Tyler kindly offered to drive them to the grocery store. However, when they got to the register, Naya realized her wallet wasn't in her purse. Without hesitation, Tyler came to the rescue and said, 'It's okay; I got it, it's only $20.' She wanted to pay him back immediately, but he declined her offer. Instead, back at the apartment, Naya prepared the Monte Cristos, and Tyler got to pick the movie for their cozy snow day. Later that day, as the snow melted, they went on an official first date for Korean BBQ and have been inseparable ever since.
We had planned a camping weekend at Lake Anna, but the weather had other ideas. Nevertheless, with camping still on our minds, we decided to visit a few camping stores to prepare for future trips. Our first stop was Cabela's, where we purchased a cooler, and then we headed to our favorite shop, Mountain Trails, located in Old Town Winchester, a place that holds many memories of our first dates. While browsing, we settled on a 4-person tent and a few other camping essentials. Afterward, we returned to the car to drop off our purchases, Tyler asked, 'Can you check the cooler for ice?' (Note: We had just purchased the cooler, so there was no actual ice in it.) Absentmindedly focused on venmoing Tyler her share for the tent, Naya replied, 'Sure, I can check.' To her surprise, she found a little black box inside the empty Igloo cooler. Tyler, visibly nervous, seemed to have forgotten to ask the question, and he just stared at her. Puzzled, Naya inquired, 'What is this, Tyler?' With nerves still taking hold, he finally managed to ask, 'Would you marry me?' And without hesitation, she said 'yes' (although she just had to double-check that it wasn't a promise ring). The moment was perfect, and our shopping adventure turned into an unforgettable engagement story.
