We met in Memphis in January 2020, 2 months before the world shut down with COVID. I was living in NYC at the time prior to starting PA school and Tyler was living in Memphis working in production. 2 months after meeting we decided to take a trip together to Charleston, SC (Tyler's alma mater). We left that trip deciding we were going to try a long distance relationship, but unfortunately the date was March 9th and unbeknownst to us the entire country was about to go on lockdown. I returned to my family in Michigan and we spent the next 2 months facetiming. We met each others families virtually, had face time date nights, and zoom game nights with our friends. In May of 2020 with no end in sight, we both drove 5.5 hours and met halfway between Memphis and Detroit in Louisville, Kentucky. We got an airbnb for 2 weeks (as 2 weeks was the COVID buffer period) and planned to both return to our prospective homes after that 2 week period. As it was nearing an end we realized separating for the unforeseeable future was not ideal, and decided to drive together back to Memphis to stay with the Malkins for 2 weeks, followed by 2 weeks in Michigan with my family. Once Tyler was in Michigan for 2 weeks, we found 100 reasons for him to subsequently stay another week. At this point it was mid July and Tyler decided to move to Michigan and look for a job here, as I was starting PA school in Detroit the following month. He continued to live with my family and interview in Michigan for the summer, and officially moved to Michigan in September 2020, got an apartment in downtown Detroit and started working at Rocket Mortgage. Since then, Tyler bought us a house in Royal Oak Michigan and switched jobs, I graduated PA school and started working in the ICU, and we just welcomed our puppy Kobi into the family in March 2024. We are so excited to celebrate our next milestone with you all in June 2024!
