Hyatt Ziva Cancun - Address: Blvd. Kukulcan Mz 51-Lt 7, Punta Cancun, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico Not to be confused with Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun - we are NOT staying here - it's over an hour away!
Hyatt Ziva Cancun!
Yes! Though we highly recommend staying at the resort for the best experience (everything will be right there), you are welcome to stay somewhere else if you would like. However, there will be a day pass fee to access the resort for each guest that you will be responsible for paying on arrival. If you do choose to stay somewhere else please let us know so that we can let the resort know to expect you.
For flights it is best to fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN). We have always used USA Transfers (https://www.usa-transfers.com/) to get from the airport to the resort and back. Their prices are very reasonable and they only offer private transfers with an English speaking driver.
As long as you like! We will have a welcome cocktail the night before the wedding (10/27/2023), and the wedding will take place Saturday evening (10/28). We hope everyone will take the opportunity to enjoy beautiful Cancun and consider the trip a fun vacation. The bride and groom will be staying a week (10/25-11/1) and we will be mostly focused on enjoying time with family prior to the wedding, and more friend focused after the wedding.
We do have a room block for the wedding with a limited number of rooms available. If you don't see a room type that you would like on the block let us know and we can request the hotel to swap it out if there is availability. WARNING: As this is an all-inclusive resort the prices will change based on the number of adults and children in the room. Be sure to list the correct number of occupants in the room you book. To book into our room block please use the code: G-2RAL OR use this link: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/CANIF/G-2RAL FYA - This block will close 4 months prior to the wedding date - so consider booking soon!
We know traveling is expensive, and the gift would like most is your presence. So please, do not feel obligated to give a gift, the best gift you can give is to show up and have a great time celebrating with us! If you insist, we have a registry tab here: https://www.zola.com/wedding/tylerandgail/registry
The Hyatt Ziva Cancun is a family friendly resort, kids and adults of all ages are welcome. However, with the exception of immediate family members the wedding ceremony and reception will be an adults focused event. You are welcome to bring your little ones on the trip with you - please coordinate with the hotel prior to arrival and they can help arrange for child care.
YES! The US Government is notoriously slow and inefficient. At the time of writing passports were regularly taking over 3 months to be issued from the time of application. Don't wait, get your passport application or renewal in the mail ASAP!
Absolutely! However, please leave your fancy cameras (DSLRs) in the room for the ceremony and reception. If anyone brings a professional camera we may be charged an outside vendor fee.
Yes, up until 120 days prior to the event the room is 100% refundable/cancellable. After this date but more than 45 days prior you may be able to get a refund depending on the availability of rooms in the room block, and the rooms are non-refundable 45 days prior to the event. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us.
We love the Turqoize experience - we have been to the resort 3 times and it was by far our favorite. You will have a jacuzzi tub on your balcony, an ocean front view, and personalized butler service throughout your stay. What more you could you want!
Baggage claim is very slow in Cancun, if you can fit in a carry on it will make your arrival much faster. Once you pass customs many many people will try to sell you a taxi, transfer, tour, or claim they want to help you find your way. Do not engage with them, you will get stuck dealing with a hard sell. The USA transfers agents are outside of the airport in the large shaded area with all the vans pulling up.
A lot of fun! Arriving early will allow you to enjoy the resort for some extra time, it can be a convenient way to extend the trip. Bring a hat, the sun is strong. There is limited shade around the pool/beach. Umbrellas and beach chairs are included and fairly easy to find. The upper part of the main pool is warmer than the area with the swim up bar. The main pool gets some shade about 4:00PM. There are many activities around the area, we have always stayed at the resort. Cabanas are available — They are not necessary to have a good time - but cost around $120 per day either by the pool or beach. Drink service is still available around the pool without a cabana, the cabanas do give a nice pool area to congregate though. Drinks you get to go are going to be in a hard plastic cup to ensure no glass makes its way into the pool. If you want glass, order room service, or drink in a restaurant/bar.
There is a LOT of good food. Asian, Italian, steak, French, American, just about everything you can think of they have here. They even give you snacks and alcohol in a complimentary mini bar that they restock. There likely isn’t any reason to bring any food or drink. Many bars and restaurants may try to up-sell you on food or specialty drinks. The prices are generally high, and what is included has always been very good. I would recommend just going with what is included. They will still make just about any cocktail you want, we weren’t able to find something they couldn’t make. The house wine (cab, merlot, Chardonnay) are all pretty decent Chilean wines. They may try to give you a wine list at the nicer restaurants, but you can always ask for what’s included. Room service is included, we use this for breakfast most days. It’s a nice quiet way to have breakfast while you get ready.
Tips are included and not expected while here. They are allowed, but most people do not tip extra. Large parties can be seated assuming there is room in the restaurant. To make sure there is room it’s best to arrive when restaurants open. Most open at 6PM though, so you won’t have to eat early to ensure we can all sit together. The only restaurant that requires a reservation is the Hibachi table cooking at Moongate (no reservation needed if you just want sushi). A few weeks prior to arrival the concierge has always emailed us and we’ve been able to make the reservation for any time or day we wanted. When you’re done eating you can just get up and go, no need to sign for anything. Many places will ask for your room number prior to service, this is normal and they will not charge for anything unless you sign. Most importantly- here are the menus: https://hyatt-ziva-cancun-property-hub.netlify.app/en/menu/
You need to check out prior to leaving the hotel, they will ask for your check out slip to confirm everything is paid up prior to departure. Ensure you leave enough time for this prior to leaving for the airport. If you’re traveling with USA Transfers they will tell you when to leave for the airport based on your flight time. They have always made sure we arrived at the airport with plenty of time to ensure we can check in, check bags, and make our departure time.
