It was a typical June morning in Nashville, the kind where the temperature eclipses 90 degrees before the dew evaporates from the hot Tennessee bluegrass. For Kelly, a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, June means late mornings, Starbucks, eventually tackling that one writing project she's been putting off, and more Starbucks. Tyler, a public school teacher, spends the month of June trying to sleep until 8am, mowing his lawn, and slowly recovering from yet another year of teaching. As they both made their way to a summer camp staff meeting at Vanderbilt, little did they know this June morning would be anything but typical.

Kelly was excited to work as a new counselor at the ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp, a weeklong experience for individuals with Williams syndrome sponsored by the Academy of Country Music. Campers would write, record, and perform an original song at the Grand Ole Opry, with help from country music stars along the way. Tyler had worked at this camp for several years, this particular summer as assistant music director. Both Kelly and Tyler arrived at the staff training eager to meet their co-workers for the week. They parked their cars in opposite ends of the lot, both unknowingly driving a Prius with their preferred candidate's bumper sticker adorning the rear of their vehicle. Getting to know each other throughout the week, they discovered they had several things in common, including a passion for helping people, a love of music, and a similar outlook on life. Also, they both drove a Prius. At the end of the week, Kelly and Tyler proudly watched the campers perform their original song "Happy Together" from backstage at The Opry. It was clear the song title was not just a coincidence; it was a sign of things to come.

As camp week ended, Kelly and Tyler knew they wanted to continue to get to know each other. Sneakily arranging an end-of-camp staff happy hour as another excuse to spend time together, they flirted over margaritas and Tyler was finally brave enough to ask Kelly out on a date. She said yes and they enjoyed dinner, drinks, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens just a few days later. After a marathon weekend of dates, meeting friends, and Fourth of July fireworks, sparks were flying. Literally. They decided to date exclusively, and were, indeed, Happy Together.

Kelly and Tyler had now been dating for nearly two years, meeting each other's family and friends, taking trips, and enjoying life in Nashville together. On May 5th, 2018 they decided to make their commitment official. After a full day's scavenger hunt around Nashville and Bell Buckle, TN to the scene of memorable moments of their relationship, they settled in to dinner at Husk Nashville. The table was covered with rose petals, and they were handed menus with the lyrics to the song Tyler wrote for Kelly early in their relationship. Tyler got down on one knee, said something beautiful that neither can remember because they were so overwhelmed, and most importantly, Kelly said yes! They ate a wonderful meal, complete with a specialty cocktail that Tyler designed specifically for Kelly (and that you'll get to try at the wedding!). They left the restaurant, full and happy, to go back to Tyler's place to call their families and share the news. Instead, they were greeted by their closest friends for a surprise engagement party! Tyler had planned everything in great detail, and even invited Kelly's best friend from Massachusetts and her friend from Florida! Kelly's friends told her that they knew Tyler was the one when they saw his party planning spreadsheet.
