Haley’s long-time friend and Tyler’s cousin, Danielle, was the true reason these two love birds met. A few summers ago, Danielle invited Haley to join in for a family camping weekend. Haley had a great time getting to know Danielle’s entire family, including this Tyler guy. He had a beard, even in his ripe age of 20 years old, so Haley thought he had to be much older than her. He was clearly not on her radar, but she appreciated that he helped her up after getting hit in the face with a volleyball during one of the family matches. Tyler can still recall how awful Haley was at volleyball but admired that she got up smiling, crooked sunglasses and all. The camping weekend came to a close with Tyler offering to give Haley a ride home. She thought this was a kind gesture (literally just that, nothing else...) so she said yes, resulting in the drive home that started it all. They had a fairytale summer romance, but like all summer romances, it came to an end when they both parted ways for college in different states. Fortunately, it only took about 3 months apart for the two to realize there was really no one else they wanted to spend their time with. This was the real deal. Four years of long distance made their relationship stronger and helped them grow. 3 years ago Tyler and Haley had the luxury of dating in the same city which they now call home, Minneapolis, MN. The two have been through many life phases together, and continue to take on every adventure with love and happiness. One summer day in Stillwater, MN, Tyler got down on one knee and asked Haley to marry him. Tyler convinced Haley they were getting a “free gondola ride” on the St Croix River and as gullible as she is, it worked. After almost tipping the boat over with excitement, Haley said yes. Tyler and Haley cannot wait to celebrate their love in the same way they met 8 years ago - surrounded by family and friends at Camp Tanadoona on September 6, 2020.
