We met on August 15th, 2020 - Zach's 23rd birthday. We had just arrived in New York City to start medical school at Columbia University. Our friendship grew over the course of August and September. At the end of September we went on a post-exams trip with friends to Patchogue, NY on Long Island. In Patchogue, we hit it off and started to realize that we had feelings for one another. When Maggie got back from the trip she told a friend about her feelings and received some sound advice to tell Zach how she felt. After studying one evening, we went out to dinner at a local restaurant. Zach claims it was our first date, but Maggie was wearing sweatpants (clearly not a date). After dinner Maggie confessed her feelings to Zach and he suggested that they go on an official date. We ended up at Hi Life Bar and Grill in the Upper West Side, even though it was supposed to be Jacob's Pickles, but we will save that story for another time. The rest is history!
Maggie woke up to 4 dozen pink roses (the kind that Zach first bought Maggie), a dozen macarons from Laduree, and homemade pumpkin pancakes. Zach made a 3-course lunch inspired by several of the countries they have traveled to together (Croatia, Vienna, and Thailand). We went on a rainy walk in the afternoon before our plans to go to The Met and Miss Ada's for dinner - our favorite restaurant in New York. Zach had planned to propose on the rooftop terrace of The Met, but the weather had other plans for us. We ended up walking through Central Park on the way to The Met. We have had many incredible dates and walks in the park together. Walking around the city is one of our favorite ways to connect with one another. We stopped at The Pool, near a beautiful weeping willow, and Zach proposed. "I am sure that only a lifetime together will be enough." Maggie said "Yes." We walked to The Met and then went to Miss Ada's, where we have spent many birthdays and anniversaries with one another.
Zach and Maggie are so excited to get married in San Miguel de Allende! It is a charming town in Central Mexico that is a UNESCO world heritage site. The old town is a pedestrian only zone and it continues to be highly ranked in Travel and Leisure (#1 city to visit in 2017, 2018, and 2021). Our venue is a modern dessert villa 15 minutes outside of town. As many of you know, Zach and Maggie love to travel and have been to 11 countries together. They feel that the new experiences bring them together and create lasting memories. Maggie and Zach wants their wedding to be a weekend of vacation, new experiences, and lasting memories for their guests. Events will begin on Friday afternoon of March, 28th. They want to ease some of the difficulties with planning international trips. Please check out the website for lodging suggestions, things to do, and transportation recommendations (to come).
