9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
We thought it would be nice to have anyone that is available on Thursday night to come out and meet everyone! It is going to be a long weekend of us all hanging out and we know the lobby bar has the best drinks!! Come out in something casual and meet all of our best friends and family to kick off the wedding weekend!!
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Lunch will be served during this event. This is the simplest of the events. Typically people wear yellow or orange and be careful as the event could get messy!
The Gaye Holud is a Bengali ceremonial ritual that literally means smearing of tumeric on the body. It is believed that the sacred turmeric paste wards off the evil eyes that could potentially affect the soon-to-be-wed. It also brings positivity and prosperity into the lives of the bride and groom. Elders, family, and friends take the turmeric and smear it on the skin of the bride and groom, blessing them and cleansing them of impurities in preparation for the Wedding Ceremony.
6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Come and feel glamorous! The theme is neon disco! We recommend bright colors and sparkles. This will be on the beach so sandals or wedges are recommended.
Mehendi is a fun event where we will have 2 artists doing small henna designs on guests hands. Be careful as not to stain anyone's beautiful clothes as you wait for the mehendi to dry (about 20 minutes). Sangeet means "music". This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families (and friends). It is here that both sides let down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment. The night will be filled with food and dancing including a few choreographed group dances being performed through the night. Friends and family are HIGHLY encouraged to participate. Please let Triparna or Zia know if you would like to be a part of a larger dance group! The more the merrier!!
11:30 am - 12:00 pm
Please be dressed in whatever you will be wearing to the wedding ceremony!
This is basically the groom's parade! Zia and his family and friends will be parading/dancing their way to the mandap (where the wedding ceremony will take place). We will have a dhol player and music playing and it is kind of like his last hurrah before being welcomed into Triparna's family. Triparna's mom will be waiting to bless and welcome him at the end of the parade before he gets to the mandap. We need everyone to bring the energy and help Zia dance his way to the "alter"!!!!
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Please feel free to dress in South Asian attire or beachy formal attire for the wedding festivities! Typically guests should not wear red.
The Hindu ceremony will take place on a covered rooftop, outdoors, so it may be windy. It should take about an hour and a half.
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Please enjoy some canapés and cocktails before a night of dinner and dancing!
7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
