Travel

The Wedding Website of Kady Lawson and Trevor Payne
With multiple options on how to travel to the National Park and surrounding areas, a car is necessary once you get there. You can fly then rent a car, or make it a road trip and drive your own car the entire way. The drive is approximately 5 hours from Garden Grove, CA and 14 hours from Vancouver, WA. The Ceremony and BBQ will take place at Redwood Ranch located four miles from the southern entrance of Sequoia National Park. There is a dirt road leading the the Ranch so please leave extra time to safely drive up the road. If you choose to enter The National Park there is an entrance fee of $35 per vehicle. (Redwood Ranch is not located inside the National Park, therefore there is no fee). Please don't be afraid to reach out to Kady or Trevor with any travel or accommodation questions.

Flight

Fresno Yosemite International Airport and Visalia Municipal Airport

The closest commercial airports to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are Fresno Yosemite International Airport and Visalia Municipal Airport. Many other airports, some international, are within a few hours' drive of the parks and the Redwood Ranch. Fresno Yosemite International (FAT) is 1 ¼ hours from the Kings Canyon National Park entrance on Highway 180 and 1¾ hours from the Sequoia National Park entrance on Highway 198. From the airport, you can rent a car to reach the parks or your accommodations near by. Visalia Municipal Airport (VIS) is 1 hour from the Sequoia National Park entrance on Highway 198 and 1½ hours from Kings Canyon National Park entrance. From the airport, you can rent a car or, in summer, take a bus to the Visalia Transit Center, where Sequoia Shuttle provides summer shuttle service to Sequoia National Park.

Roads here are steep, winding, and narrow. Some roads, including the one leading to Redwood Ranch, are dirt roads. Vehicle length limits and advisories are in place on many park roads, including the Generals Highway from the foothills to Giant Forest. No gasoline is available in the national parks, though nearby towns and national forests have gas stations.

Sequoia Shuttle

June 27, 2024 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

While a car is recommended for getting around, during the summer parking can be hard to come by at the more popular attractions. Once inside the park, you can pick up the park’s free shuttle, which stops at key destinations, such as the General Sherman Tree and Moro Rock. For a reasonable fee, the Sequoia Shuttle picks up passengers in Visalia, located 35 miles to the west, for the 45-minute drive to the park, passing through the hamlet of Three Rivers then continuing to the Giant Forest Museum.
