The directions on the invitation are accurate and work. The use of Waze mapping app works perfectly to arrive as well. Sometimes Google Maps doesn't work all the way to the house. The best advice is to tell your UBER driver is that when you arrive at the T in the road on Royal Harbor, turn left thru the gates and follow it around to the right on Captain Kidd.
The location of the event is on the patio and pool deck of a house on the water. Therefore, this is not a seated at a table event but more of a cocktail party. The area will have several high top cocktail tables to place drinks and food plates but most of the event is designed around people standing, talking, laughing and getting to know each other and being able to flow and enjoy the beautiful view. For the ceremony there will be a number of chairs for seating if wanted (not required) and those chairs will be available for use later if needed. A couple of large tables with chairs are reserved for the more senior guests that may not be able to stand for long periods of time. So, ladies and gentlemen please consider this when picking out your shoes!
We are so glad you decided to come to our wedding and enjoy the lovely fall in Charleston, South Carolina. Naturally, this is the most asked question, so we have created a registry on this site that has the added advantage that any items or monetary gifts will be delivered directly to our address after our wedding.
At the time of the ceremony (approx 4:15), it will be obvious based upon the location of the chairs and the altar where it will take place. There will be two rows of chairs, the front row for family/elderly guests, however not everyone needs to be seated as you will be able to see and hear from the seaward side of the pool deck as well. In the traditional manner, the bride will be escorted by her father to the altar. Mr. Brian Macdonald will be the marrying official. The bride and groom will state their vows, exchange rings and say "I do". Once complete, we will celebrate on the pool deck with small plates and drinks, take pictures, drink Champagne and watch the sunset.
Sunset is at 6:48 p.m. and it feels like a natural time to begin wrapping up time around the pool with wedding cake. There are lights, however and winding down the reception will happen as it gets darker and people catch Ubers back to Charleston. We anticipate a number of places in the Market, Broad and King street areas of Charleston being visited in order to continue the party downtown. So there is plenty of time to head back out or freshen up and meet at various establishments in the Charleston Downtown area. Many places are listed in the ToDo tab of this website.
