It was 2006 and a puka shell necklace was Garrett's favorite accessory. Emily was wearing black eyeliner and studded belts. As the saying goes.. “opposites attract”. This was the same year that Garrett moved back to Greensburg from Florida, and was the “hot new kid” at Wendover Middle School. Through mutual friends and a crush that Garrett secretly harbored for Emily, he mustered up enough courage to ask her to the Christmas dance. This would be the last time they would interact until 2017....LOL. Then, one fateful night in July of 2017 Garrett stumbled across Emily’s Facebook profile. After not speaking for about 10 years, Garrett sent the almost always ignored, random Facebook message to Emily saying “Hey Em, How are ya?”. To his amazement, Emily actually answered! Not only did she answer, but she seemed excited to be talking to him! A few days later, and enough text messages sent back and forth to make them both exceed their cell phone data, Garrett asked Emily out for what would be their last first dates. Garrett picked her up at her house and was amazed how gorgeous Em was in person after all of these years. In no time, it was like they had never lost touch. They spent the night laughing and carrying on to the point that Garrett called in sick to work that night because he simply did not want to leave this amazing woman. From that moment on, it was nothing but the most perfect and easy relationship they had both been in. Today, they enjoy spending time being parents to Colton and Tucker, hiking all over PA, trying new and interesting restaurants (and of course their beer), spending every second they can with their families, snuggling with their dog Bodie, and anything that can be classified as an "adventure" in their book. Everyday they wake up more in love and more excited to spend this "adventure" we call life, together.

Garrett picked Emily up the morning of April 27, 2019 to go on what he had been calling a "surprise trip" for the last two/three weeks. The day before, Garrett had sent Emily with her sister to a spa to get a mani/pedi. This all seemed a little suspicious to Emily, but she did not want to think anything of it. She just thought it was going to be a nice weekend out with her boyfriend! After about an hour drive they arrive in Pittsburgh at Phipps Conservatory (one of Emily's favorite places). They walk in and Emily is distracted by the pretty flowers, butterflies, and the chipmunk while Garrett nervously checks his watch about 100 times. He proceeds to tell Emily that Phipps actually isn't the only surprise, and that there's more! They arrive at a gated off room in Phipps and Emily's heart starts racing.. she asks "What is going on?". Garrett takes Emily by the hand and starts talking about how he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. He gets down on one knee and proposes to Emily with the most stunning ring she had ever seen. She said YES!!! Garrett had arranged for a family friend to be in the room hiding behind the flowers to take photographs of the special moment. After taking a few more photos, calling friends and family, and drinking a bottle of champagne they headed back to Greensburg. Emily had no idea, but their families and a few friends were anxiously waiting for them at Garrett's parents house for a surprise party! His parents had a large margarita and tacos (more of Emily's favorite things) ready for them when they walked in. When Emily thought the day couldn't get any better, there was one more surprise back in Pittsburgh. They celebrated all night at a bar called Tequila Cowboy with more friends!
